The McGraw Hill Higher Education team thrives on building meaningful relationships with educators to maximize the potential of every learner. This is a unique opportunity to have a far-reaching impact on student success as well as impact the educational technology industry. What is this role about? McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for a Curriculum Strategy Manager to join our Higher Education team. We are seeking a driven, entrepreneurial, and highly adaptable individual to join our fast-paced, agile business strategy team. This is not a conventional curriculum role. It is built for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and finds genuine energy in building new things from the ground up. In this role, you will lead the strategic vision and execution of curriculum and content development across our portfolio — shaping not just what we build, but how we build it. Bringing the business strategy perspective and market expertise, you will partner closely with a motivated, high-velocity team to experiment with new modes of product development, content formats, workflows, and AI-powered tools, iterating rapidly and learning from every cycle. If crafting new processes, pioneering new ways of working, and failing fast in service of better outcomes excites you, this role was designed for you. What you will be doing: Lead Agile Curriculum & Business Strategy Own and drive curriculum strategy across our content portfolio, setting direction while remaining responsive to rapid shifts in market needs, technology, and team learning. Operate as a player-coach — rolling up your sleeves alongside the team to sign, shape, and develop content while guiding the broader strategic vision. Champion an agile, iterative approach to content development: design fast, test early, learn quickly, and refine continuously. Drive and Deliver Market Expertise Foster a deep connection with the higher ed markets in which you work, researching and analyzing the curriculum and market needs of your customers, and developing a deep understanding of their goals, challenges, and interests in order to inform and direct what products should be developed. Act as the “voice of the customer” with internal teams, guiding business strategy and team operations to product quality new products, tools, and content for your markets. Innovate Content Development Practices Actively experiment with new and emerging modes of content design and development, including AI-assisted authoring, adaptive formats, and novel instructional models. Embrace and engage meaningfully with AI tools to accelerate production, enhance quality, and unlock new possibilities in how content is created and delivered. Identify, pilot, and scale approaches that challenge conventional curriculum development — willing to try new things, course-correct quickly, and share learnings openly. Drive Market Expertise & Content Quality Develop and maintain deep expertise in market dynamics, customer needs, and emerging trends across the disciplines in your portfolio. Oversee research and data analysis to inform curriculum plans, content investments, and product priorities. Define and uphold standards for instructional excellence — ensuring content delivers meaningful, measurable learning outcomes for students and educators. Collaborate & Communicate Across the Organization Partner cross-functionally with platform, marketing, and content development colleagues to align curriculum plans with broader organizational goals. Engage internal and external stakeholders — including authors, contributors, instructors, and partners — to build relationships that fuel the portfolio's growth. Communicate priorities, resource needs, and tradeoffs clearly and proactively, adapting messaging to different audiences across the organization. Navigate & Shape Evolving Operations Thrive in a context where systems, tools, and workflows are actively being built and refined — contributing constructively to operational improvements as they emerge. Demonstrate exceptional flexibility and problem-solving agility: reframe expectations quickly, pivot when needed, and help the team do the same with clarity and confidence. Help establish scalable processes and norms that others can follow as the team and portfolio grow. We’re looking for someone with: 7+ years experience in business and curriculum strategy, instructional design, or content development — ideally in an educational publishing, edtech, or fast-paced content organization. Demonstrated ability to work in agile or iterative environments, with a track record of delivering in conditions of change and ambiguity. Experience with or strong enthusiasm for AI-powered content and workflow tools. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong analytical thinking and the ability to use data to inform decisions. Preferred: Familiarity with content development pipelines, CMS or DAM systems, and production workflows. Experience in higher education, professional learning, or K-12 publishing. Background in launching new content lines or building processes from scratch. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to help define what modern curriculum development looks like — and to build genuinely new processes and products leading a team that's motivated to move fast and do great work.
