Role Description The Customer Acquisition Specialist is a part-time role responsible for growing ASAUK’s membership and stakeholder base, with a focus on individuals and institutions interested in African Studies. This hybrid role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and qualifying prospective members, conducting outreach campaigns, and building relationships with academic institutions, research organizations, and relevant networks. The specialist will develop and implement customer acquisition strategies, coordinate promotional activities, and collaborate with program leads to align membership growth with ASAUK’s strategic objectives. Additional responsibilities include tracking acquisition metrics, preparing reports, and providing feedback to improve outreach, engagement, and retention initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, track acquisition performance, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Experience in Acquisitions, including lead generation, membership or customer onboarding, and conversion strategies.
  • Excellent Communication skills for engaging academic and professional audiences through email, calls, presentations, and online platforms.
  • Program Management capabilities to coordinate outreach initiatives, events, and membership campaigns in an organized and timely manner.
  • Market Research skills to identify target segments, understand stakeholder needs, and inform acquisition and engagement strategies.
  • Prior experience in membership organizations, higher education, or research-focused environments is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, manage priorities independently, and collaborate with remote and international colleagues.
  • Relevant academic background (e.g., social sciences, humanities, business, or related fields); familiarity with African Studies or regional expertise is an advantage.
