Why candidates should join

Bring technical and commercial judgement to complex European energy deals. Work alongside Account Executives and engineering on discovery, RFPs and measurable customer value, with exposure to large utilities and the energy transition. The role is mainly pre-sales, with stock options and company-total-contract-value commission whose detailed mechanics remain to be confirmed.

Role Requirements

  • At least five years in enterprise pre-sales, solution architecture or technical consulting, with energy or relevant energy-adjacent experience; complex proposals, RFPs and enterprise buying processes. (Must-have)
  • Technical discovery, solution feasibility, ROI modelling and business cases using data, spreadsheets and coding or AI-assisted tools. No named language, protocol or utility platform is mandatory. (Must-have)
  • Commercial fluency, technical judgement and clear communication with executive and technical stakeholders; strong interest in energy and its transition. (Must-have)

About The Role

ROLE OVERVIEW

Our client is hiring a commercially minded Customer Solutions Architect to support complex enterprise energy sales. The role is primarily pre-sales: technical discovery, RFPs, tenders, proposals and value engineering. Help Account Executives turn customer problems into credible solutions and business cases, working with engineering to validate what can be delivered.

Work with large utilities and other energy businesses across Europe. Sales involve multiple stakeholders, long decision cycles and enterprise software, implementation and professional services. Bring the technical and analytical depth to win those deals.

Responsibilities

  • Join discovery, demos and technical deep dives, typically from the second or third customer meeting onward.
  • Lead RFP responses and proposal development, checking feasibility and requirements with engineering.
  • Research country-specific energy market, regulatory and technical questions for persuasive customer conversations.
  • Build ROI models, simulations and business cases demonstrating financial and operational value.
  • Explain architecture and integration approaches while maintaining focus on commercial outcomes.
  • Translate customer feedback into clear requirements for product and engineering.
  • Support handover after signature. Occasional delivery-management support may arise in quieter sales periods, but is not the core role.

PROFILE

  • At least five years in enterprise pre-sales, solution architecture or technical consulting, with energy or relevant energy-adjacent experience.
  • Combine customer-facing commercial work and technical problem-solving.
  • Learn a complex, engineering-led domain and explain it to executive and technical stakeholders.
  • Practical analytical ability: use data, spreadsheets and coding or AI-assisted tools to model scenarios, test assumptions and build business cases. No specific programming language, protocol or utility platform is a hard prerequisite.
  • Experience with complex proposals, RFPs and enterprise buying processes.
  • Strong interest in energy and its transition. Relevant European languages are valuable; no specific additional language requirement was confirmed.

LOCATION AND PACKAGE

Full-time. Ghent, Belgium or remote. Local candidates are preferred; remote candidates remain eligible for consideration. The package includes stock options and uncapped commission based on company total contract value.
