Cyber Crime Initiative Coordinator DIGITAL EVIDENCE LABORATORY CRIMINAL BUREAU Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated individual with a commitment to public service to join the Digital Evidence Laboratory (DEL) within the Criminal Bureau. The DEL is a statewide unit comprised of digital forensic investigators and support personnel tasked with collecting and analyzing mobile devices, computers, media, and data from networks and third-party providers. Additionally, DEL personnel lead cyber initiatives across Massachusetts and the country designed to improve law enforcement’s ability to collect and analyze digital evidence and investigate the cyber components of criminal activity. One of the most significant of these training initiatives is the National Cyber Crime Conference, one of the largest annual law enforcement cybercrime and digital evidence training events. Primary Duties : The Cyber Crime Initiative Coordinator (CCIC) will provide administrative support to the DEL and will assist the Director, supervisory personnel, and forensic investigators in the performance of their duties. Additionally, the CCIC will support cyber-crime initiatives, including the National Cyber Crime Conference, the Massachusetts Digital Evidence Consortium, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Cybercrime Tipline, and the Massachusetts Digital Evidence Guide. The CCIC will also serve as a member of the Support Staff team within the Criminal Bureau and will be expected to report in a dual supervision capacity. The Cyber Crime Initiative Coordinator will support DEL programs to ensure that our people, hardware, and software comport with requisite standards in the field. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Coordinating DEL quality and training initiatives Working as a core team member organizing the National Cyber Crime Conference Working as a primary coordinator of the National Cyber Crime Conference Serve as a liaison between National Cyber Crime Conference staff and sponsors and attendees Coordinating with AGO staff and other Commonwealth agencies to assist in Massachusetts Digital Evidence Consortium initiatives Working as a primary coordinator and liaison between the Massachusetts State Police and the DEL for NCMEC Cyber Tipline Reports to ensure timely processing of legal orders Scheduling meetings and appointments Managing the acquisition and inventory of support systems Assisting with managing the division budget Organizing case intake and maintaining case files Archiving and disposal of case files and evidence Preparing reports of DEL activity Provide administrative support and coverage within the Criminal Bureau Other duties, as required Please note that given the nature of the work handled in DEL, the Cyber Crime Initiative Coordinator may be exposed to sensitive and disturbing materials, including case matters involving sexual exploitation of children. Position Requirements: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree, or an equivalent combination of related education and/or prior administrative experience Excellent computer skills Effective organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to pay close attention to detail Effective professional verbal and written communication skills Possess the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making A high level of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel Excellent technical skills Experience or interest in digital forensics or criminal investigations is helpful Valid driver’s license Candidates must be willing to travel anywhere in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to perform the responsibilities of this position Prior experience in event planning and/or work in a forensic lab setting is desirable The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.
