JOB TITLE: CYBER SECURITY ANALYST II
LOCATION: BANGOR/HYBRID
REPORTS TO: MANAGER, CYBER SECURITY
POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT, NON-BARGAINING UNIT

POSITION OVERVIEW:
A Cybersecurity Analyst II is responsible for protecting Versant Power's computer network and systems from cyber-attacks. This involves staying current on upcoming IT trends, creating contingency plans, examining data to identify suspicious activity and threats. Analysts are also responsible for implementing threat protection measures and security controls, reporting security breaches, educating the rest of the company on security measures, reviewing computer networks and identifying any potential vulnerabilities, installing the necessary software in order to protect it from unauthorized access, and documenting detections so that future breaches can be mitigated efficiently. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the corporate mission of the IT department.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs such duties as, but not limited to the following:
- Monitor computer networks and systems for threats and security breaches
- Examining reports, data and analytics to identify suspicious activities and threats
- Reviewing and installing Operating System and thrid party software patches
- Documentation of processes, procedures and indications of compromise
- Ensuring that corporate data is removed from universal waste and assisting with disposal
- Monitoring and completing tasks in our ticketing system
- Monitoring and responding to any threats in our email system
- Creating an educational program to assist the company achieve it's corporate goals
- Implementing threat protection measures and security protocols
- Prepare reports on Indications of Compromise and updating processes and polices to evolve with the current threat landscape
- Developing and Implementing Organization-Wide Security Protocols
- Identify and spotlight vulnerabilities with on-premises and remote networks, then work to remediate them
- Updating and hosting a monthly education package to any departments that request additional Cyber Security training
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Stay current on Information Technology (IT) security trends and news
- Work with team members as needed for larger projects
- Develop and mentor co-workers within Versant
- Participate in meetings, presentations, and performance evaluations
- Act as an IT subject matter expert on various business teams
- Engage with relevant user groups
- Perform other duties assigned by Cybersecurity Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have an Associate' degrees with a preference towards a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or Computer Science
- Over 2 years of experience in information security or related field
- Experience with computer networks, Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft OS, Linux and Moblie Device Management
- An understanding of firewalls, proxies, VPN's, MFA, SIEM, antivirus, patching and IDPS concepts
- Ability to think critically and innovatively about the security solutions that can keep data safe while still allowing a business to flourish
- Must have a strong customer service ethic, and the ability to work independently or in teams, with minimal or no supervision
- Project Management experience is helpful
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must be willing to travel for training, offsite work, and user group participation.
- Position requires identity verification and seven-year criminal background check with update at least every seven years pursuant to NERC standards
