Cyber Security Engineer

Randstad is currently working with a public sector client to find a Cyber Security Engineer on an initial 12 Month contract with potential of extension. The Cyber Security Engineer will join a major cyber uplift program. In this key role, you will design, implement, configure, and operationalise security solutions across identity, endpoint, cloud, and network domains to protect critical infrastructure, reduce organizational risk, and strengthen overall posture. This role is based in Brisbane CBD with WFH flexibility.

What You Will Do:

• Design, implement, and operationalise cyber security solutions across IAM, network, endpoint, cloud, and data protection domains.
• Provide expert cyber security advisory services and work closely with architects, infrastructure teams, and vendors to embed security controls.
• Execute technical configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities across diverse security platforms.
• Develop solution designs, technical standards, operational procedures, and test plans to ensure solutions meet security requirements.
• Lead operational readiness, transition-to-operations, and knowledge transfer through training and mentoring for support teams.
  
  

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

• Proven experience as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer or Security Engineer within a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting technologies across a broad range of security domains.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business and security requirements into practical, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Excellent technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills to deliver procedures, architectures, and training materials.
• Familiarity with cyber security frameworks and standards (e.g., Essential Eight, NIST CSF, ISO 27001) alongside relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, AZ-500, Security+).
