The role and the team

NAPA Safety Solutions is looking for a dedicated Cybersecurity & Datacom Specialist to join our Helpdesk team in Romania. This is not a 1st-tier support role: the person will be the internal subject-matter expert for data communication and cyber security across all Safety Services teams, rather than assisting commissioning engineers.

NAPA is consolidating deep technical expertise in this single role, so that multiple teams — 1st/2nd line support, projects, sales, pre-sales, and customer questionnaires — can rely on one trusted expert instead of spreading shallow knowledge across the organization.

The role sits organizationally within Helpdesk but works horizontally across the business. In this role you will:

• provide network and security design input to Services project teams for newbuild and retrofit projects
• act as the customer-facing technical authority for Sales and Pre-sales on cyber security questionnaires and tender support
• feed regulatory changes into Product teams, and engage directly with customer IT/OT counterparts, including shipowner IT, class societies, and system integrators.
• deliver 2nd-level expertise on network and security incidents affecting NAPA Online and NAPA Bus and be expected to become the recognized internal authority on AWS configuration for NAPA-hosted services.

The position is full-time and permanent, with hybrid/remote working (remote work inside Romania) options based in Galati, Romania. You have to be eligible to work in Romania.

What we expect from you

• Education: Master's degree in a technical field
• Experience: 5 years of experience in cybersecurity and datacom.
• Networking & Network Design: strong expertise in designing and supporting network architecture.
• Cybersecurity: solid knowledge of security principles applied across industrial, onboard, shore, and cloud environments.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: strong analytical skills for resolving network and security incidents.
• Windows & .NET Environment: working knowledge of Windows-based systems.
• Customer-Facing & Advisory Skills: able to act as a technical authority for customers, sales, and pre-sales teams.
• Awareness of IEC 62443 and IACS UR E26/E27 maritime cyber regulations is a desired competence.
• Full proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

A plus if you also bring

The following skills are not required, but will make you stand out:

• Cloud (AWS): hands-on experience with AWS configuration and environment hygiene.

Data protocols & integration

• REST / HTTPS APIs, JSON, XML
• Messaging concepts (queues, pub/sub) at a conceptual level
• Industrial / measurement protocols: Modbus, OPC UA, NMEA (any subset is a plus)

Scripting & automation

• PowerShell or Python for diagnostics and small automation tools
• Basic familiarity with Git/version control

Maritime / NAPA domain

• Understanding of ship onboard architecture (sensors, gateways, shore link)
• Prior experience with NAPA Online, NAPA for Operations, or comparable maritime software
