About Security Overview
Security Overview is a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) that delivers enterprise-grade cybersecurity to growing companies. We don't do checkbox compliance—we build real defenses and actively protect our clients' environments. Our distributed team operates across the United States and Argentina, combining deep technical expertise with a relentless focus on outcomes. We are a lean, high-performance team where every person has direct impact.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team in Buenos Aires. This is an international contractor engagement with a U.S.-based company—you will be a core part of our distributed team, not a short-term hire. This is a hands-on engineering role: you'll build, harden, and maintain the defenses that protect client environments across a diverse portfolio of companies.
Your primary focus will be security engineering—implementing secure configurations, hardening endpoints and cloud environments, managing identity and access, and deploying and administering security tooling across client environments. You'll turn security requirements into durable, well-documented configurations that hold up in the real world.
Your secondary focus will be broader service delivery and detection support—tuning detection rules across SIEM and EDR platforms, supporting incident response, and resolving security-related service requests through our ticketing system. You'll participate in a structured on-call rotation with other engineers to help ensure fair off-hours coverage.
We use AI extensively at Security Overview—not to replace our team, but to make every engineer significantly more capable. You'll be expected to leverage AI tools as a core part of your daily workflow to accelerate your work, automate repetitive tasks, and continuously improve how we operate.
Primary Responsibilities — Security Engineering & Hardening
- Secure Configuration & Hardening: Implement and maintain secure configurations and hardening standards aligned with industry benchmarks (CIS, NIST) across client and internal environments (Microsoft 365, AWS, endpoints).
- Identity & Access Management (IAM): Implement and maintain secure identity, access, and authentication configurations across client environments.
- Endpoint Security Deployment & Management: Deploy, configure, and manage endpoint security tooling across client environments, including EDR, RMM, SASE/VPN, and UEM solutions.
- Network Security: Support the implementation and ongoing administration of network security solutions (e.g., SASE / Zero Trust Network Access).
- Collaboration Suite Security: Administer and secure business collaboration suites (Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace), including identity, email security, and data loss prevention configurations.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments across client and internal environments, document findings, and track and support remediation.
Secondary Responsibilities — Detection Support, IR & Service Delivery
- Detection Engineering & Tuning: Support and tune detection rules and configurations across SIEM and EDR platforms to improve alert quality and coverage.
- Incident Response Support: Support incident response activities—containment, investigation, and post-incident hardening—and contribute to lessons learned.
- Client Service Requests: Respond to security-related service requests via our ticketing system (Jira Service Management), providing clear communication and timely resolution.
- Compliance Support: Support managed compliance services (e.g., SOC 2, PCI-DSS): implement controls, gather evidence, and maintain audit readiness.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of configurations, processes, and remediation, and contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting.
- On-Call Rotation: Participate in a structured on-call rotation with other engineers to help provide coverage for off-hours events.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience in security engineering, endpoint/infrastructure security, or a closely related security role.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently on day-to-day engineering tasks, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
- Technical Proficiency: Practical working knowledge of endpoint security (EDR, e.g. CrowdStrike), cloud and collaboration security (Microsoft 365 and/or AWS), and secure configuration and hardening. Familiarity with SIEM in an operational capacity.
- Security Fundamentals: Solid understanding of IAM, network security, vulnerability management, and common attack vectors.
- English Proficiency (Mandatory): Full professional proficiency in English (C1/C2), written and spoken. You will write technical documentation, communicate with English-speaking clients, and collaborate with a distributed team across time zones. This is assessed during the selection process.
- AI Fluency: Demonstrated experience using AI/LLM tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) to assist with security work—investigation support, automation, documentation, scripting, or workflow optimization.
- Location: Must be a resident of GBA, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience at an MSSP, MDR provider, or in a multi-tenant security environment.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Microsoft SC-200, or AWS Security Specialty.
- Experience administering and securing Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace at scale.
- Familiarity with SASE / Zero Trust Network Access and UEM/MDM solutions.
- Scripting and automation experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Go/Golang) or SOAR / workflow automation tools.
- Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, HIPAA) and supporting client audit initiatives.
