Role Description The Damp Surveyor is a full-time, hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, combining on-site surveys across Dorset and Hampshire with some work from home for reporting and administration. Day-to-day responsibilities include visiting residential and commercial properties to assess damp, mould, and timber issues, conducting detailed inspections, and using appropriate diagnostic tools to identify causes of moisture and decay. The role involves preparing clear, accurate survey reports, recommending suitable remedial treatments, and explaining findings and solutions to clients in a professional, accessible manner. The Damp Surveyor will liaise with the operational team to schedule work, ensure treatments align with survey recommendations, and maintain high standards of health and safety on-site. Regular tasks also include updating records, following company procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement of surveying methods and customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong damp surveying and building diagnostics skills, including experience assessing moisture ingress, condensation, mould growth, and timber decay.
• Knowledge of building construction and materials, particularly in UK housing, and understanding of common structural and environmental causes of damp.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate technical reports and treatment recommendations, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence in using relevant tools and technology (e.g., moisture meters, hygrometers, tablets or laptops for documentation and reporting).
• Solid planning, time management, and organizational skills to manage multiple site visits, reporting deadlines, and client appointments.
• Commitment to health and safety best practices, including safe working methods in domestic and commercial properties.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within Dorset and Hampshire.
• Previous experience in damp proofing, surveying, building maintenance, or a related property services field is highly desirable.
• Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in surveying, building construction, or property care (e.g., PCA or equivalent) are an advantage.
• Ability to work independently, use sound judgment on-site, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients in a professional, respectful manner.
