About The Role
The Staff Data Analyst will play a pivotal role within Stripe’s Risk Data Science team, responsible for building the data foundations, models, and measurement frameworks that underpin Stripe’s risk and product decision-making processes. As Stripe increasingly offers risk capabilities as a product to platforms and connected accounts, this role is essential in shaping the data strategy, ensuring the development of reliable metrics, scalable data pipelines, and analytical frameworks that support risk evaluation and management at scale. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Risk leadership to align data investments with strategic objectives and advance Stripe’s risk product offerings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence how risk data is built, measured, and evolved, directly impacting the security and efficiency of Stripe’s global operations. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior analysts, setting standards for data analysis, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making across teams.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, or related fields
- Proven track record of defining and executing data strategies across multiple teams
- Experience designing experimentation frameworks and measurement strategies for complex systems
- Deep expertise in SQL and proficiency in Python
- Strong ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical approaches
- Experience building and scaling operational data products such as metrics frameworks, pipelines, and dashboards
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Proficiency with AI tools to accelerate model development, analysis, and coding
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or related technical field
- Preferred: Experience in risk management, trust & safety, or fintech domains
- Preferred: Familiarity with causal inference and A/B testing in constrained environments
Responsibilities
- Define key risk metrics, data products, and analytical frameworks to support Stripe’s risk as a product offering
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Risk teams to ensure data investments align with strategic roadmaps
- Design, implement, and maintain pipelines, dashboards, and data products that serve as the backbone for risk decisioning
- Establish and maintain trustworthy, well-documented operational and north star metrics
- Build infrastructure to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and visibility of critical risk metrics, including alerting on regressions
- Own and evolve Stripe’s risk experimentation strategy by defining testing parameters, measurement criteria, and learning processes
- Evaluate the impact of risk policies, merchant journeys, and models through rigorous analysis
- Mentor and guide junior and senior data analysts, setting technical standards and best practices
- Communicate complex analytical findings effectively to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
