The Data Analyst will work both independently and as part of a team to perform complex data analysis and reporting, improve data reporting capabilities, and develop data quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate has expertise in business data analysis, excels at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences, and can leverage tools like SQL, Power BI, and Tableau.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Work collaboratively with business process owners and data owners to ensure data-related business objectives are understood and documented.
• Gather, evaluate and document business and technical requirements related to data for new systems, enhancements and defects based on business user input and data needs.
• Support individual team members in the Data Office as well as various business units, by creating customizable, interactive tabular or visual reports with available tools such as SQL, Power BI or Tableau.
Data Analysis
• Design data-driven analysis to help fellow VRS employees improve customer experience and achieve agency objectives.
• Structure and clean large data sets.
• Collaborate with various business and technology teams to define, collect, analyze, and report data.
• Create reports and visualizations for internal teams and stakeholders.
• Present data-driven recommendations and findings by creating presentations, dashboards, visualizations, documentation, and reports.
Data Office Support
• Serve as subject matter expert on Data Analytics.
• Function as a liaison between the business teams and IT teams for data-related initiatives.
• Participate and assist with the VRS Change Management Process to ensure all activities flow through change management (documentation, test plans, approvals).
• Manage risk and provide timely status reports and project updates to stakeholders.
• Provide cross-team support when needed to achieve technical goals, knowledge sharing, Agency Performance Outcomes (APOs), and operational measures (OMs).
• Participate in software/hardware security reviews and implement best practices for the Data Office.
• Establish KPIs in coordination with business units to measure the effectiveness of business decisions.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in computer science, information management, data science, statistics or related field, required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
• Three to five years of experience working in data analysis, data science, and/or data warehousing
• Advance knowledge of SQL
• Knowledge of DAX, Power BI, and/or other similar system
• Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation
Additional Considerations:
• Three or more years of experience designing dashboards and reports using BI tools such as, Power BI and/or Tableau, or other similar software, preferred
• Experience in pension benefits management, or related industry, preferred
• Working with Excel, Microsoft Access, Power Platform, Data Warehouse, SQL database and/or ETL development, preferred
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, R, C (or similar), preferred
• Software development background, preferred

This position follows the hybrid work model, currently requiring three days on-site and two days remote; the selected candidate must be able to work in the office any day of the week, as required by the manager.
