Data Analyst 2 is an individual-contributor role focused on advanced data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, data integration, and stakeholder support. The position combines technical ownership of analytics products with responsibility for reliable, actionable reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Owns and maintains data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, transformation logic, validation rules, and reporting definitions for assigned products and services.
  • Leads defined data analysis, reporting, data integration, and ad hoc ETL activities across projects with limited supervision.
  • Gathers, maps, cleanses, and integrates data from primary and secondary sources while ensuring the integrity and upkeep of databases and reporting systems.
  • Analyzes complex quantitative and qualitative datasets to identify trends, patterns, risks, and actionable business insights.
  • Troubleshoots data-quality issues, coding errors, and reporting discrepancies and drives resolution with moderate independence.
  • Owns recurring reporting deliverables and ensures accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timely completion.
  • Designs, develops, publishes, and maintains Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and reports that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for product lines and business units.
  • Uses Power Query and DAX to transform data, define reusable measures, automate reporting logic, and optimize refresh and report performance.
  • Applies Power BI data governance, security, documentation, testing, deployment, and quality-assurance practices to support reliable self-service analytics.
  • Interprets and communicates findings through clear reports, presentations, recommendations, and client-facing discussions.
  • Partners with managers and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and translate business needs into data requirements and analytical approaches.
  • Researches and recommends best practices, standardized measures, quality-assurance procedures, and process improvements for data analysis and reporting.
  • Provides technical assistance and training on data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Provides informal guidance, technical review, and peer support to junior analysts.
  • Participates in client and internal meetings, facilitating discussion of data requirements, findings, and recommended actions as appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, data modeling, semantic models, interactive report design, publishing, refresh management, security, and performance optimization; advanced proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and validate data analysis using SQL and Power BI, including creating complex DAX measures and Power Query transformations; experience with R, SPSS, Python, or comparable technologies is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data integration, ETL processes, data structures, and reporting expectations.
  • Ability to independently organize and manage multiple analytical deliverables, identify risks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose data issues, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical requirements and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, managers, cross-functional teams, and junior staff while contributing to a culture of quality and exceptional client service.
  • Ability to recognize improvement opportunities, recommend best practices, and drive positive change.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% based on team needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in data analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, public policy, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.


4+ years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, reporting, data integration, business intelligence, or system implementation roles.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Individual contributor; no direct supervisory responsibility. Provides informal guidance and technical support to junior analysts.

Compensation:

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.

Range: $73,000 - $86,500
