Data Analytics- AI Summer 2027 Internship- Hybrid -Des Moines, Iowa

Wellabe is seeking an intern to join our Data & Analytics team for a10-week paid internship from June 7th through August 13th, 2027. In this collaborative role, you will get a chance to learn important skills and gain professional experience by working on a variety of projects and learning from our team. You will participate in a well-rounded internship program with the opportunity to gain real world experience that supplements traditional classroom learning.

Essential Functions

• Build and evaluate machine learning and deep learning models for real business problems
• Assist with taking models from experimentation into production
• Use generative AI and large language models to enhance machine learning workflows and performance
• Analyze and visualize business data to uncover insights that inform decisions

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or master's degree in data science, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Python (or R) and SQL
• Understanding of statistics and core machine learning concepts
• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git)
• Interest in developing and deploying models to production (cloud or MLOps experience is a plus)

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical work to non-technical audiences
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to Have

• • Coursework, projects, or research applying machine learning to real-world problems
  • Interested in applying machine learning techniques in insurance
  • Experience with Databricks and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP) or MLOps practices
