We are looking for a Senior BI Data Engineer with extensive, high-level expertise in enterprise data warehousing, advanced database management, ETL/ELT integration pipelines, and reporting ecosystems to join our team in supporting the evolution, architecture, and maintenance of large-scale European Commission data platforms and enterprise reporting systems.

The role involves designing, building, and optimizing modern Business Intelligence and Data Engineering architectures across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The specialist will lead the end-to-end implementation of complex ETL/ELT data pipelines, dimensional modeling, data governance, and interactive analytics solutions. Working within structured European management frameworks (PM² and Agile methodologies), the position requires technical rigor, data quality enforcement, and secure handling of sensitive operational information across complex domain ecosystems.

In close collaboration with project leads, service managers, and cross-functional international teams, the specialist will translate complex business needs into scalable, secure, and high-performing data engineering solutions.

📋 Requirements

Educational Level & Experience (one of the following combinations):

• EQF Level 7 (Master's degree or 5 years of higher education) + minimum 15 years of professional IT experience, OR
• EQF Level 6 (Bachelor's degree or 3 years of higher education) + minimum 17 years of professional IT experience, OR
• Secondary education granting access to higher education + minimum 22 years of professional IT experience.
  
  

Core Professional Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT pipeline design, and dimensional data modeling (star/snowflake schemas).
• Solid experience in enterprise BI platforms such as SAP BusinessObjects (universe design, administration, or reporting) and/or modern analytics engines (e.g., Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau).
• Deep proficiency in SQL / PL/SQL and relational database platforms (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Hands-on experience with enterprise ETL/ELT integration tools (e.g., SAP Data Services, SAS Data Integration, Informatica, Talend, or dbt).
• Proven track record supported by concrete examples of deliverables, project contexts, responsibilities, and technical contributions clearly detailed in the CV.
  
  

Languages:

• Minimum CEFR B2 level in English (spoken and written). Working knowledge of French is considered an asset.
  
  

🛠️ Technical & Functional Experience

• Data Warehousing & Architecture: Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) design, logical/physical modeling, data lakehouse patterns, database tuning, partitioning, and storage optimization.
• ETL/ELT Integration & Orchestration: Designing end-to-end data integration workflows, handling schema evolution, data quality checks, and automated data validation.
• Reporting, Dashboards & Semantic Layer: Governing semantic layers, metric catalogs, row-level security, and building interactive executive dashboards/reports (SAP BO, Qlik Sense, Power BI).
• Governance, Compliance & Methodologies: Experience working under PM² and Agile frameworks, enforcing data policy compliance (GDPR), confidentiality, and data lineage documentation.
• Stakeholder & Domain Support: Requirements gathering, user support, UAT support, and technical documentation within multicultural European organizational environments.
