Data Engineer

The Role Statera Energy is hiring a Data Engineer to take on a meaningful share of delivery work as we expand our data platform across multiple internal workstreams. The role focuses on building and maintaining production data pipelines, contributing to platform architecture, and ensuring data quality across market, telemetry, and operational datasets. You will work closely with our Senior Data Engineer, and provide technical guidance to the Junior Data Engineer. This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership from day one. Key Responsibilities Pipeline Development Design, build, and maintain robust batch data pipelines across market data, telemetry, and operational datasets Own pipeline reliability and performance; diagnose and resolve failures proactively Contribute to schema design, table structure, and database optimisation Data Quality Implement validation frameworks, testing, and monitoring across pipelines Clean, structure, and standardise datasets for consistent use across analytics and reporting Drive resolution of technical debt across pipelines and data infrastructure Collaboration Work with the Senior Data Engineer on architecture and platform decisions Translate data requirements from Analytics/Trading, Commercial, and Asset Management into well-scoped delivery tasks Provide guidance and support to the Junior Data Engineer Platform Support deployments, testing, and documentation Maintain clear, well-documented data processes and pipeline logic Core Skills Strong Python and SQL Hands-on experience building and maintaining production pipelines, with an orchestration tool (Prefect, Airflow, or similar) Experience with columnar or analytical databases (ClickHouse or similar) Comfortable handling large-scale time-series datasets Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) Good testing and documentation practices Desirable Experience in energy, commodity markets, or financial services data Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Azure ML, or similar tooling Experience with dashboards (Grafana, Power BI, or similar) Profile 3–5 years' experience in a data engineering or similar role Able to own workstreams independently with limited supervision High standards for code quality, reliability, and documentation Practical and delivery-focused, with a collaborative working style
