A global research-led pharmaceutical company is expanding its Azure-based data platform and needs an experienced Data Engineer to design and deliver pipelines, models and orchestration across defined platform initiatives. The team is also actively adopting AI-assisted engineering, so you will help shape how those tools are used in day-to-day delivery.
The role
- Design and implement data pipeline architectures and integration solutions
- Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes covering ingestion, transformation and consumption
- Deliver cloud data warehouse solutions aligned to project and business objectives
- Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models using Star Schema and Data Vault
- Implement workflow orchestration and automation with Apache Airflow and dbt
- Write scalable, efficient Python and SQL
- Provide architectural input on Azure data platform components
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and validate deliverables
- Advise on AI-powered engineering tools and data engineering best practice
What you bring
- 5+ years as a Data Engineer or in a comparable role
- Strong hands-on Python and SQL
- Proven delivery with Apache Airflow and dbt
- A solid track record designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks
- Strong data modelling, including Star Schema and Data Vault
- Microsoft Azure and cloud data architecture experience
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development such as Claude Code, Codex or MCP
- Clear communication and comfort working across cross-functional teams
- Fluent written and spoken English
