The CoE brings together dedicated delivery teams (Data Engineering, Applied Intelligence & Predictive Analytics, Core Systems, Automation, Front-End Experience), cross-cutting guilds (Architecture, Quality Centre, DevOps-MLOps), and an Innovation Lab - all operating on a common agile cadence with strong engineering and Responsible AI governance. The role in detail We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Engineering team of our AI CoE. You will design and build the modern data platforms and pipelines that power our AI, GenAI, and machine learning initiatives - from ingestion and transformation to feature engineering and AI-ready datasets. You will work side by side with our Applied Intelligence & Predictive Analytics team and the DevOps-MLOps Guild to take data and AI solutions from idea to production, for both internal use and client engagements . The key responsibilities of this role will include: Designing and implementing data platforms and lakehouse architectures using Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and Data Lake Storage Gen2 Building scalable, secure, and high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data Preparing AI-ready data : feature engineering, dataset versioning and lineage, and data pipelines for GenAI/RAG use cases (document processing, embeddings, vector search) Ensuring data quality, security, and governance - profiling, PII/sensitivity classification, and compliance across Azure environments Supporting the ML/AI lifecycle with data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and monitoring, including data-drift detection Contributing to CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code practices using Azure DevOps , together with the DevOps-MLOps Guild Collaborating with architects, AI engineers, and business stakeholders to shape data architecture standards across projects To be successful at this role you need the following: Must Have: 4-6 years of experience in Data Engineering role with expertise in Azure data stack: Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake Storage Gen2 Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, transformation, and orchestration Solid knowledge of Apache Spark and streaming technologies ( Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Spark Structured Streaming ) Strong grasp of data warehousing, lakehouse (medallion) architectures, and data modeling Experience with CI/CD pipelines and IaC using Azure DevOps Understanding of cloud security, compliance, and data governance standards Nice to have: Experience with Microsoft Fabric Exposure to MLOps tooling (experiment tracking, model/feature registries -e.g. MLflow ) and vector databases (e.g. Azure AI Search) Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Data Engineer Associate, Fabric Analytics Engineer ) Who you are: A structured engineer who values analysis before development, clear Definitions of Ready/Done, and traceable, well-documented work An effective communicator, comfortable engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders-including clients Agile and adaptable, at home in Scrum/Kanban delivery environments Passionate about innovation, quality, and continuous improvement How we work: Fixed 3-week sprint cycles with one-sprint-ahead analysis and strict quality gates A guild model (Architecture, Quality Centre, DevOps-MLOps) that supports every project with standards, reviews, and office hours An Innovation Lab for time-boxed spikes and POCs on emerging AI capabilities Responsible AI by default -explicit governance gates for data, models, agents, and prompts What’s in it for You?
