Your Tasks: Where you truly make an impact

• As a Data Engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on Recommendation Systems, you will be part of the Data Intelligence Team, which manages the majority of Tchibo's data pipelines into our Business Data AI Platform (BDAP). The BDAP is a highly modern cloud analytics platform in GCP, organized as a data mesh.

• You will design and implement high-performance data services using Golang, leveraging Redis for caching and real-time data access patterns to serve our recommendation systems at scale.

• You contribute to the provisioning of terabyte-scale relational data to the data mesh and, with it, to a highly motivated, creative, and proficient team of data service developers (data engineers, data scientists). Modern data services with high business impact then make use of this data to, for example, use deep learning models to estimate customer demand.

• You will build and optimize API-driven data services following API First Design principles with OpenAPI/Swagger, implementing efficient caching strategies with Redis and ensuring robust monitoring through DataDog.

• You are in control of shaping the self-built system architecture on a deep level with Golang as our primary language, Redis for high-performance caching layers, Kubernetes, Google APIs/SDKs, GitLab CI/CD, as well as the development of our data models in our highly automated layered architecture.

• You will join a strong team of Business Analytics, Data Scientists, and Data Engineers, with whom you will be in close contact to provide the right level of data and service quality to the data mesh and our corporate stakeholders. Machine Learning and Generative AI have proven that our work directly affects the final customer's experience.

Your profile: You keep reinventing us.

• Min. 5 years professional experience with Golang in production environments - this is our core technology

• Strong expertise in Redis for caching strategies, data structures, and performance optimization

• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform

• You have successfully completed a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, business administration, or a comparable qualification and have professional experience in the business intelligence environment.

• Proficient in API First Design principles with OpenAPI/Swagger

• Experience with DataDog for monitoring and observability

• Strong experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications

• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with streaming and messaging is an advantage (pub/sub, Kafka, etc.)

• Experience with OAuth2 server-side authentication is a plus

• You have experience with the challenges and best practices of relational data management or Data Warehousing in a mid to large-scale data volume setting.
