Data Engineer Senior

We are seeking a Data Engineer Senior to support a public sector organization's enterprise data integration modernization initiative. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining Talend-based integration solutions that support critical business applications, data exchanges, analytics, and reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in data integration with a service-oriented approach to platform operations, working closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, solution architects, and platform administrators to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable integration services.

This position requires someone who can design and develop enterprise integration solutions using Talend to support ongoing platform operations and modernization initiatives. The role involves developing ETL/ELT jobs, data transformations, and orchestration workflows; translating business and data requirements into technical designs and data mappings; deploying, scheduling, and monitoring Talend jobs and services across development, test, and production environments; investigating and resolving integration issues and production incidents; performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions; and supporting platform upgrades, patching, and environment maintenance. The Data Engineer Senior will also work with infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve platform issues, and leverage AI-assisted tools to streamline data engineering workflows, improve code quality, and enhance development efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years - designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using Talend Studio, including ETL/ELT jobs, data transformations, orchestration workflows, error handling, and deployment-ready integration components
• 5+ years - administering and supporting Talend Management Console or Talend Administration Center, including job deployment, scheduling, environment management, monitoring, execution tracking, release promotion, and operational support across development, test, and production environments
• 3+ years - installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting Talend Remote Engines, Job Servers, and Talend runtime infrastructure, including environment maintenance, log analysis, performance tuning, connectivity troubleshooting, and security configuration
• 2+ years - providing production support for enterprise integration solutions, including incident management, root cause analysis, monitoring, performance optimization, configuration management, deployment validation, and resolution of integration failures
• 4+ years - working within a mature Software Development Lifecycle utilizing Git-based source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, testing, release management, documentation, and change management processes
• 1+ years - using AI for code generation, data analysis, automation, and enhancing productivity in data engineering workflows
• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or a related field of study

Nice to Have

• 6+ years - performing business requirement analysis related to data manipulation, transformation, cleansing, and wrangling
• 6+ years - Microsoft SQL Server experience, including database design, optimization, and administration in enterprise environments
• 2+ years - building scalable ETL pipelines, data quality enforcement, and cloud integration using Talend technologies
• 3+ years - designing and integrating RESTful APIs, including secure, scalable API development with robust authentication, error handling, and real-time automation support
• 3+ years - implementing message queuing technologies using tools such as ActiveMQ and Service Bus for scalable, asynchronous communication across distributed systems
• 1+ years - working with ServiceNow and Azure-based data management platform integrations
