This role focuses on maintaining the accuracy and structure of the data sets that inform our financial advisory projects. You will support the team in its work for a Nairobi-based financial services group, ensuring the figures used for their capital allocation review are reliable and well-organized.

The Role
As a Data Operations Assistant, you will spend your time cleaning, organizing, and validating the numbers that inform our recommendations. Working in a fully remote capacity, you will ensure that the financial models we build are based on accurate and well-structured inputs. This is a technical support position that requires a high level of concentration and a systematic approach to handling large amounts of information.

What You Will Be Doing

• Extracting data from various financial reports and internal systems for our client engagement.
• Cleaning raw data sets to remove inconsistencies and errors before analysis begins.
• Updating existing financial models with new monthly or quarterly figures provided by the client.
• Verifying the accuracy of data entries against source documents to prevent calculation errors.
• Organizing large volumes of historical financial data into structured and usable formats.
• Assisting analysts in preparing charts and tables for technical client presentations.
• Identifying gaps in data availability and flagging them to the project team early.
• Maintaining clear documentation of data sources and the steps taken to process them.

What You Bring

• A university degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, specifically using formulas and basic data organization techniques.
• A high level of attention to detail and a preference for accuracy over speed.
• A logical approach to solving problems and a willingness to ask questions when information seems contradictory.
• Comfort working independently in a remote setting while staying in regular contact with the team.
• Basic understanding of financial statements like balance sheets and P&L reports.
• The ability to explain how you arrived at a specific number in plain, simple language.
