Data Product Manager | 100% Remote (WFH) Opportunity General Summary The Data Product Manager is a strategic and execution-oriented individual responsible for bridging operational delivery with the long-term data vision across EMPLOYERS. This role partners with business leaders and technical teams to define, build, and evolve an enterprise portfolio of data products by translating technical specifics into business outcomes, connecting data to decisions, and ensuring they are traceable to a business result, not just an output. This role carries enterprise-wide accountability for the Databricks medallion architecture product lifecycle, data product OKR ownership, and executing on AI enablement strategy across all business domains. It is an individual contributor role operating at a senior specialist level by influencing platform direction and serving as the data product authority. The ideal candidate for this role sees data products as a strategic differentiator, not a support function. As AI reshapes how insurance carriers operate and compete, this role is positioned to lead that shift, ensuring EMPLOYERS has the data foundation, the product discipline, and the organizational alignment to turn data into decisions at scale. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Build, maintain and execute on the data product roadmap in alignment with our strategy; bring prioritization recommendations and trade-off analysis for VP approval. Collaborate with business partners to determine success metrics and ensure measurable outcomes are delivered with data products. Drive the evolution of data products across the medallion architecture, from bronze layer end user consumption, ensuring each layer is purposefully designed, governed, and ready to support analytics and AI use cases at scale. Own the product backlog and outcome-level acceptance criteria; partner with Scrum Masters on ceremony facilitation and with BAs on story-level detail; lead stakeholder sign-off. Identify and assess where AI and automation can accelerate data product delivery, reduce manual effort, or improve quality, and advocate for those investments in the roadmap. Track and communicate product value: decisions influenced, capacity freed, and risk avoided. Proactively engage business partners across the organization to identify data product gaps before they become reactive intake. Translate business needs into product requirements grounded in outcomes: who decides what, with what data, by when. Identify opportunities to embed AI-driven insights, predictions, or recommendations into data products to amplify business impact. Monitor adoption and validate that delivered products are driving the decisions they were built to support. Represent D&A in business partner planning cycles; anticipate demand, surface risks, and bring data-informed recommendations. Partner across the Digital & Data Team to ensure data products are structured and governed for AI consumption. Stay current on AI/BI tooling, industry applications in insurance and financial services, and emerging data product patterns; bring relevant insights to the team. Model AI adoption in day-to-day work: leverage AI tools to improve product documentation, backlog management, stakeholder communication, and delivery efficiency. Follow data governance standards set by the Enterprise Data Program Manager; flag issues and escalate. Adhere to Product organization processes. Other duties as assigned. Requirements / Background and Experience/Expertise 5+ years in data product management, analytics program management, or a combined delivery and business-facing data role. 3+ years of Agile/Scrum experience. Demonstrated ability to define OKRs, validate business cases, and translate requirements into acceptance-criteria-bearing stories. Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Unity Catalog and Delta Lake; demonstrated working knowledge of medallion architecture (bronze, silver, and gold layer design principles) and how data products are structured and consumed at the gold layer. Proficient in treating data as a product: lifecycle management, SLAs, and consumer-oriented design. Knowledgeable in AI tools with demonstrated ability to apply them in a product or analytics delivery context. Demonstrated familiarity with AI/ML use cases in a data product context; ability to identify, evaluate, and scope AI-readiness requirements and articulate AI enablement priorities to both technical and business stakeholders Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills with the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical individuals. Proven track record of connecting data to business decisions with specific examples you can articulate. Preferred Qualifications: Insurance industry experience preferred. Familiarity with AI/ML use cases in regulated environments. Proficiency in the Atlassian suite, especially Jira. Data governance framework experience. BI platform experience (Amazon Quicksight, Tableau, Power BI, etc.). Experience in organizations executing data or technology modernization programs. Work Environment Remote: This role is a remote (work from home (WFH) opportunity) and only open to candidates currently located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship. It requires a suitable space that provides a private and quiet workplace. Expected Work Hours: Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed. Travel: May be required to travel to off-site location(s) to attend meetings, as necessary Salary Range: $105,000 - $160,000 and a comprehensive benefits package, please follow the link to our benefits page for details!
