About the role:
At Sage Homes, we are looking for a Data Protection Assistant to join our Legal team and support the delivery of our data protection and information rights obligations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative, analytical and organisational skills who is looking to gain valuable experience in a specialist and increasingly important area of law and compliance.
Reporting to the Deputy Data Protection Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the management of Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information rights requests. You will be responsible for locating, reviewing, organising and preparing information for disclosure, ensuring personal data is handled securely, accurately and in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
This role offers exposure to data protection legislation, information governance processes and specialist technology, making it an ideal opportunity for a graduate or early-career professional interested in pursuing a career in data protection, compliance, legal services or risk management.
The role is based in our Northampton office and offers hybrid working with three days per week in the office and two days from home.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the end-to-end administration of Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information rights requests.
- Conducting searches across business systems and Microsoft 365 applications using Purview e-Discovery tools.
- Reviewing documents, emails and records to identify personal information for disclosure.
- Applying redactions in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidance.
- Preparing disclosure packs for review by senior members of the Data Protection team and business stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records of searches, decisions and documents reviewed.
- Monitoring deadlines and supporting workflow management to ensure statutory timescales are met.
- Drafting correspondence and supporting communications with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Assisting with general administrative activities within the Data Protection function.
About you
- Degree educated or able to demonstrate equivalent data processing experience.
- Awareness of data protection legislation and its practical application within an organisation.
- Strong IT skills, including the ability to work confidently across Microsoft 365 applications and multiple business systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to follow established procedures while maintaining a high standard of work.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
We are committed to ensuring you have the best career here at Sage. As well as regular support and guidance from your manager you can expect to receive a variety of learning and development opportunities to support you as you grow within our business. This may include internally and externally delivered development programmes and for permanent colleagues, opportunities to study for professional accreditations and qualifications.
