JOB SUMMARY: As a Data Scientist 3, you will help advance predictive analytics capabilities that support strategic business initiatives across the enterprise. You will partner with business leaders, engineers, analysts, and technology teams to develop and deploy machine learning and statistical models that improve decision-making across functions including Marketing, Loyalty, Sales, Finance, Brands, and Franchise Development. This role combines hands-on advanced analytics work with technical leadership, mentoring, and continuous improvement of the organization's data science capabilities. You will also help shape future-state analytics infrastructure and identify new data sources that improve model performance and business outcomes. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop, validate, and deploy predictive models and machine learning solutions that drive business insights and strategic decision making across the enterprise. Partner with stakeholders to solve complex business challenges through advanced analytics, forecasting, segmentation, propensity modeling, optimization, and fraud detection solutions. Lead moderately complex projects and analytics initiatives with department-level impact while exercising independent judgment and providing recommendations that influence business decisions. Evaluate emerging analytical methodologies, technologies, and industry trends and introduce best practices that enhance organizational data science maturity. Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts by sharing technical expertise, coaching on analytical approaches, and supporting professional development. Collaborate with Data Delivery, Architecture, and IT teams to enhance cloud-based analytics infrastructure and machine learning deployment capabilities. Assess and recommend internal, third-party, and open-source data sources that improve predictive model performance and business value. Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and business discussions. QUALIFICATIONS: Employment Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Master's degree in a quantitative discipline preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 5-8 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, machine learning, statistics, or a related analytical field. Experience building predictive models using techniques such as segmentation, clustering, time series analysis, linear and generalized linear models, and other statistical methodologies. Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver enterprise-scale analytical solutions. Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Python and/or R. Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets. Experience with machine learning frameworks and predictive modeling techniques including decision trees and neural networks. Knowledge of cloud-based analytics environments, preferably AWS and Amazon SageMaker. Experience with geospatial analytics tools such as ArcGIS or GeoPandas is preferred. Master's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Relevant industry certifications in data science, machine learning, cloud analytics, or related disciplines are preferred. COMPENSATION & SALARY RANGE: The salary range for this position is $114,907-135,000. Pay ranges listed are what Choice Hotels reasonably expects to pay. Actual pay may be higher or lower and ranges may be adjusted in the future. Pay positioning within the range is influenced by factors including—but not limited to—education, experience, skills, certifications, performance, geographic location, business needs, seniority, and travel requirements.
