Summary:
Pavilion Payments is looking for a Data Support Analyst to join our data team and serve as a key resource for our reporting and analytics environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into data, solving problems, and helping business partners find the answers they need.
You’ll be the first line of support for production data and reporting issues, working primarily with Power BI, SQL, and our data environment. You’ll research data questions, troubleshoot reporting issues, support users, and help translate business needs into clear reporting and data requirements.
While production support and analytics are the primary focus of this role, you’ll also have opportunities to partner with our data engineering team on Power BI reporting, data pipelines, and other enhancements.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the first line of support for production data and reporting issues, including pipeline failures, refresh errors, and report or dashboard issues.
- Research and troubleshoot data using Power BI and SQL to answer business questions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reported issues.
- Manage incoming data and reporting requests, helping assess priorities and determine the appropriate path to resolution.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate requests into clear, actionable reporting or data requirements.
- Onboard new users and merchants to Power BI, the data lake, and related tools, including provisioning and reviewing access.
- Build new Power BI reports and dashboards and enhance existing reports based on business needs, including performance tuning.
- Document recurring issues, solutions, and processes to strengthen internal knowledge resources and support runbooks.
- Partner with data engineers to support the design, testing, and enhancement of data pipelines in Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, data engineers, and business partners to troubleshoot issues and deliver effective data solutions.
- Participate in an agile team environment, including daily stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint reviews.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and potential issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience:
- 2–3+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data reporting, or a related data-focused role.
- Strong Power BI experience, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
- SQL experience — querying, analyzing, and troubleshooting data.
- Experience gathering, documenting, and refining business requirements for reports, dashboards, or data requests.
- Ability to analyze data, identify patterns or discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and communicate findings clearly.
- Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders, product support, and technical teams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple requests and shifting priorities.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting production data and reporting environments.
- Experience working in an agile environment.
- Experience in payments, financial technology, casino gaming, or another highly regulated industry.
