About the Opportunity:

ELMO Software is seeking a Database Engineer with deep, hands-on MySQL DBA experience to manage our core operational estate and build out our modern data platform working hybrid from our SydneyHQ. You will be working across:

• 30% Core DBA: Maintain performance, uptime, security, and SLAs for our MySQL Aurora/RDS environment.
• 70% Data Engineering: Build Snowflake data pipelines, orchestrate workflows, model data using dbt, and integrate CDC streaming.

Tech Stack: AWS (RDS/Aurora), MySQL, Snowflake, dbt, Python, Airflow, Terraform

What You’ll Do:

• Own health, tuning, indexing, and security (RLS, masking) across Aurora/RDS MySQL, with supporting coverage for SQL Server and Postgres.
• Build streaming/CDC data ingestion from transactional databases into Snowflake.
• Orchestrate data workflows using Python, SQL, Airflow, or Step Functions, provisioning infrastructure via Terraform.
• Leverage modern AI tooling (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, MCP agents) to automate DBA tasks and accelerate development.
• Maintain ISO 27001 compliance standards across data pipelines and database platforms.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of production MySQL DBA experience (Aurora/RDS preferred).
• Expert-level understanding of InnoDB internals, query optimization, execution plans, and locking.
• Hands-on production experience with Snowflake, dbt, Python, and advanced SQL.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration (Airflow/Step Functions) and IaC (Terraform).
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and ISO 27001 data security principles.
