Overview

The Delivery Manager is responsible for supporting predictable and transparent delivery across Product and Development by maintaining strong delivery discipline, clear processes, accurate project status, and effective coordination between teams.

The role focuses on the execution side of delivery: ensuring Jira remains accurate and up to date, tracking progress and dependencies, identifying blockers and risks, facilitating communication between Product and Development, and ensuring agreed actions are followed through.

The Delivery Manager works closely with Product Managers, Development teams, UX/UI, and other relevant stakeholders to improve visibility and execution without taking ownership of product strategy, requirements, or product prioritisation.

The objective of the role is to reduce operational friction, improve delivery transparency, and allow Product and Development teams to focus more effectively on their core responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date delivery information across Jira and other relevant delivery tools.
  • Ensure agreed delivery processes, workflows, statuses, and working practices are consistently followed across Product and Development.
  • Track initiatives and development work from readiness through delivery, highlighting delays, blockers, risks, and dependencies.
  • Proactively follow up with Development and other involved teams on outstanding actions, commitments, blockers, and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain clear visibility of delivery status and ensure Product Managers and relevant stakeholders have accurate and timely information.
  • Support coordination and communication between Product Managers, Development teams, UX/UI, and other dependent teams.
  • Identify cross-team dependencies and ensure they are visible, assigned, and followed through.
  • Escalate delivery risks, blockers, capacity concerns, and unresolved dependencies to the appropriate owners.
  • Support Product Managers in maintaining delivery plans while ensuring product priorities and requirements remain owned by Product.
  • Facilitate relevant delivery ceremonies, coordination meetings, and status reviews where required.
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in existing delivery processes and work with the Head of Delivery, Product, and Development leadership to improve them.
  • Monitor delivery flow and identify recurring bottlenecks or areas where work is consistently delayed.
  • Support the collection and reporting of relevant delivery metrics, including lead time, throughput, work in progress, ageing, and delivery predictability.
  • Ensure completed work is properly reflected in Jira and that delivery information remains reliable for reporting and decision-making.
  • Help maintain a consistent delivery framework across teams while allowing appropriate flexibility for different products and development streams.
  • Support continuous improvement of delivery practices based on actual performance, recurring issues, and lessons learned.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Delivery Manager, Project Manager, Scrum Master, or in a comparable software delivery role.
  • Strong understanding of software development and digital product delivery processes.
  • Strong practical experience with Jira, including workflows, boards, issue structures, reporting, and delivery tracking.
  • Good understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain structure across multiple initiatives and teams.
  • Ability to identify blockers, dependencies, delivery risks, and process issues early.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly when coordinating between Product and Development.
  • Ability to follow up consistently and drive actions to completion without creating unnecessary process overhead.
  • Data-driven mindset and familiarity with delivery metrics such as lead time, cycle time, throughput, work in progress, and ageing.
  • Ability to distinguish between product ownership and delivery ownership and work effectively within those boundaries.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate delivery information.
  • Ability to challenge inefficient processes constructively and propose practical improvements.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritise effectively, and escalate issues when required.
