Job Overview

We are seeking a Deployment Engineer to join our Managed Services team. This role is responsible for receiving and validating software releases, deploying containerised applications across multiple container platforms, and guiding clients through setup and upgrades both on-site and remotely. The successful candidate will work closely with a number of teams including Development, Operations, Dev Ops and Linux to deliver reliable, repeatable deployment solutions to our growing client base.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deploy and configure containerised applications across multiple container platforms in client and internal environments.

  • Install and validate releases locally before delivering them to clients, ensuring all components are functioning correctly end to end.

  • Participate in application design and architecture review meetings to provide a deployment and operability perspective.

  • Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and increase deployment consistency.

  • Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, bug investigation, and remediation of issues across pre-production environments.

  • Collaborate with the central DevOps team to align tooling, standards, and deployment methodologies.

  • Participate in on-site and remote sessions guiding clients through setup and upgrades.

  • Receive and review software release notes, translating them into accurate environment configurations ahead of deployment.

  • Communicate technical issues and remediation plans clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Create and maintain deployment documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

  • Conduct formal handover of deployed environments to either the client’s own operations team or Aquis internal operations, depending on the engagement model.

Required Skills / Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience deploying containerised applications across multiple platforms, such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Cloud container services, VMware, or Docker/Podman environments.

  • Proficient in writing platform-native deployment configuration e.g. Kubernetes manifests, Compose files, or equivalent.

  • Experience deploying and configuring multi-service containerised architectures where services have interdependencies and a defined startup order.

  • Strong Linux administration skills, preferably RHEL or Rocky Linux.

  • Proficient in Git for version control and configuration management.

  • Solid understanding of TLS and mTLS certificate configuration within containerised environments.

  • Ability to translate application configuration requirements from release notes and environment variable lists into accurate platform-specific deployment configurations.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis across containerised application environments regardless of the underlying platform.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide both technical and non-technical client stakeholders through setup and upgrades.

  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

  • Comfortable working on client sites as part of a delivery team.

Desirable

  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI

  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tooling such as Ansible or Terraform

  • Experience working in financial technology or similarly regulated and low-latency environments

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals — VLANs, firewalls, routing — relevant to client site deployments

  • Familiarity with exchange or trading platform technology
