Role Description The Deputy Editor in Chief will support the Editor in Chief in leading the editorial strategy and daily news production for Ypodomes.com. This full-time hybrid role is based in Athens, with a mix of on-site work and some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating the editorial team, assigning and reviewing articles, ensuring accuracy and consistency of content, and overseeing coverage across the 14 thematic sectors. The role involves planning and managing editorial calendars, developing special features and investigative pieces, and maintaining high standards of journalistic integrity and style. The Deputy Editor in Chief will also collaborate with stakeholders on content initiatives, analyze readership data to refine editorial focus, and represent the portal at industry events and media appearances when needed.
Qualifications

Qualifications
- Strong editorial and journalistic skills, including experience in news writing, editing, and headline crafting for digital media.
- Proven ability to manage editorial workflows, coordinate reporters and contributors, and oversee deadlines and publication schedules.
- Experience with digital publishing tools, CMS platforms, and understanding of SEO principles and audience engagement analytics.
- Knowledge of infrastructure, construction, real estate, or related economic sectors in Greece, or a strong willingness to specialize in these areas.
- Excellent command of written and spoken Greek; good working knowledge of English is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and mentoring capabilities within editorial or newsroom environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setup in Athens, balancing on-site collaboration with independent work from home.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- High ethical standards, commitment to objective reporting, and attention to detail in fact-checking and verification.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
