As a Design Associate I, you will play a key role in creating visually compelling assets that drive brand awareness and engagement. This position requires a creative, detail-oriented individual with a passion for design, branding, and storytelling. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring our marketing campaigns, promotions, and initiatives to life through captivating visuals.

Design Associate I Key Responsibilities:

• Execute a variety of pre-production design tasks, such as resizing, asset prep, layout adjustments, and color conversion/correction (CMYK/PMS)
• Help build & maintain design templates and customized imagery that align closely with our brand.
• Ensure design deliverables are optimized for different channels and devices, maintaining a consistent brand identity.
• Assist in the creation of digital assets for digital, print, presentations, marketing materials, social media and internal communications.
• Edit and optimize images for various online platforms and campaigns.
• Stay updated on digital design trends and best practices to ensure our visual content remains fresh and engaging.
• Support the maintenance and evolution of brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all design materials.
• Spearhead multiple design tasks simultaneously, coordinate with Creative Services team & leadership to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
• Conduct thorough quality checks on all design materials to ensure accuracy of copy, color, contrast, and compliance with all brand standards.
• Maintain DAM file organization and asset libraries.
• Create strong visual clarity in complex, information-heavy materials.

Design Associate I Requirements:

• A two-year degree in Graphic Design/Visual Communication or equivalent experience required.

• 1-3 years prior experience in a visual arts or graphic design-related field, internships, or freelance work (supported by portfolio) required.

• Proficiency in Adobe Design Tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign).

• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including print and digital materials.

• 4-6 solid design projects that can consist of;

  • Branding (logos, identities)
  • Print materials (flyers, signage, merchandise)
  • Digital ads (paid media/social media)
  • Merchandise Design (packaging)
  • Illustrations (marketing or brand-focused, demonstrating understanding of composition, layout and visual hierarchy)
  • Social Media Content (YouTube videos, Instagram reels, influencer content, photography/videography)

Design Associate I Compensation:

• Starting Salary: $24.74 - $26.20 hourly.
• Bonus Opportunity: Eligible for ONE SCCU Annual Bonus.

Work Schedule

• Hybrid and Flexible Schedule Options: This position is hybrid with two days per week required in office.
• Monday – Friday: Flexible within the departments core hours.
