We have a fantastic opportunity for a Desktop Motor Engineering Lead within the UK


Join Sedgwick as a Desktop Motor Engineering Lead and play a pivotal role in leading a high-performing team within our motor engineering function. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced motor engineering professional who is passionate about people leadership, technical excellence, and delivering outstanding customer outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to influence operational performance, mentor and develop colleagues, and help shape the future direction of our engineering services.


As Desktop Motor Engineering Lead, you will oversee a team of skilled Desktop Motor Engineers, ensuring claims are assessed efficiently, accurately, and in line with client requirements, industry standards, and service level agreements. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will provide technical expertise on complex vehicle damage assessments, repair methodologies, and total loss decisions, while acting as a key escalation point for both technical and operational matters.


This role offers a rewarding blend of leadership and hands-on technical involvement. You will drive performance through coaching, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to develop your team while maintaining the highest standards of service delivery. By analysing trends, identifying opportunities for improvement, and fostering a culture of accountability and customer excellence, you will play a vital role in ensuring Sedgwick continues to provide market-leading solutions to its clients and customers.

The skills you will have when you apply: 


· Motor Engineering Expertise - Significant experience within motor engineering, vehicle damage assessment, or claims engineering.

· Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of vehicle repair methodologies, modern vehicle construction, total loss processes, and vehicle valuations.

· Negotiation Skills - Experience negotiating repair costs, repair methodologies, and total loss settlements.

· People Leadership - Previous leadership, supervisory, or team management experience within a technical or operational environment.

· Coaching & Development - Demonstrable ability to coach, mentor, and develop colleagues to achieve their full potential.

· Stakeholder Management - Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, customers, and internal teams.

· Problem Solving - Excellent analytical, decision-making, and solution-focused capabilities.

· Performance Delivery - Proven experience working within service level agreements and achieving operational performance targets.

· Customer Focus - A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer and client outcomes.

· ATA Accreditation - ATA Accreditation, or currently working towards achieving accreditation.

· Estimating Systems Experience - Experience using Audatex or similar vehicle estimating platforms.

· Vehicle Repair Knowledge - Comprehensive understanding of vehicle construction, repair techniques, and industry best practices.

· Insurance Knowledge - Sound understanding of insurance principles and claims handling processes.
