Details

This position follows a hybrid work model, based out of our Mississauga office, with an expectation of in-office attendance three days each week (own transportation required). The compensation range is posted below and is based on experience, skills, and academic standing. The upper end of this range is reserved for exceptional, top-tier candidates. We use automated tools, including artificial intelligence, to assist in the evaluation of applications.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain components of our React Native + MERN stack mobile and web applications.
• Design and implement mobile-friendly, touchscreen-compatible UIs, optimizing for mobile-first performance.
• Build backend services with Node.js and manage data via MongoDB, with guidance and code review from senior developers.
• Collaborate with Product, Clients, and Executive Stakeholders to deliver quality solutions.
• Conduct thorough testing, manual QA, and performance optimization, as you learn our testing tools and standards.
• Follow GitHub workflows and modern development practices, and participate in and learn from code reviews, standups, and sprint planning.
• Help diagnose and resolve bugs, with support from more experienced teammates.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor) under guidance to support and accelerate development.
• Get exposure to how consultants, executives, and clients communicate real operational problems, and how those problems become working software.
  
  

Qualifications (Required)

• Enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related Co-op program (Term 2+ or graduate level).
• Hands-on experience or coursework in React, React Native, and the MERN stack.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Some exposure to Node.js and building or consuming simple APIs, gained through coursework or personal projects.
• Some exposure to databases (e.g. MongoDB, SQL, or similar) and basic data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control (branching, pull requests) gained through coursework or personal/group projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote/hybrid environment.
• Willingness to use AI tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor) to support and accelerate your learning and productivity.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, and comfort asking questions and seeking feedback.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and Mongoose.js.
• Experience setting up, training, or fine-tuning LLMs.
• Coursework or personal projects using state management (e.g. Redux or Redux Toolkit).
• Exposure to automated testing (e.g. Jest, Testing Library, Selenium, or Playwright).
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development practices, whether through coursework, capstone projects, or prior work terms.
• Exposure to a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Prior co-op, internship, or freelance experience building full-stack or mobile apps.
