Energy Renewal Partners

Full- Time Position- Base + Bonus

Remote or Hybrid in Austin, TX

Development Analyst/ Associate

WHO WE ARE

Energy Renewal Partners is a full-service environmental and project development consulting firm serving energy sector clients across renewable energy, oil and gas, and utility and industrial markets. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, our team brings permitting, ecological and cultural resource expertise, due diligence, and construction management together under one roof to help clients move projects from early-stage prospecting through construction and beyond. We show up as a true partner — technically rigorous, refreshingly direct, and focused on getting projects across the finish line. Join us in shaping the future of energy, responsibly and reliably.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Energy Renewal Partners is seeking a Development Analyst/Associate to support consulting of early-stage energy projects, including permitting, origination, and constraints review for new renewable energy opportunities. This role sits at the intersection of market intelligence, site assessment, and pipeline development — helping identify attractive early-stage opportunities, de-risk them, and inform go/no-go decisions before projects move into mid- and late-stage development.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities and a detail-oriented focus with an understanding of energy project development and/or environmental consulting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Communicate with state and local planning and zoning agencies to obtain ordinances and provide a detailed review of the legal documents obtained
  • Provide early-stage prospecting for renewable energy projects, including evaluation of potential constraints and fatal flaws
  • Research and identify applicable federal, state, and local permitting and regulatory requirements for proposed wind, solar, and BESS projects
  • Write, edit, and provide third-party reviews for technical reports
  • Review third-party studies, reports, land entitlements, agreements, and documents for thoroughness and accuracy
  • Support due diligence on greenfield and M&A/acquisition opportunities as requested

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology, biology, engineering, environmental science, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in energy markets, renewable development, consulting, or a related field; environmental consulting experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Working knowledge of land use, zoning, and entitlement processes at the state and local level
  • Familiarity with permitting frameworks and regulatory requirements for wind, solar, and/or battery energy storage (BESS) projects
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills, with experience reviewing third-party consultant deliverables for accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret legal and regulatory documents — ordinances, land agreements, entitlements — and flag risk or inconsistencies
  • Comfort conducting independent research across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory agencies
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with GIS tools is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with constraints or "fatal flaw" analysis for renewable energy site selection
  • Prior exposure to due diligence processes for greenfield development or M&A transactions
  • Familiarity with GIS or mapping tools used in early-stage site assessment
  • Direct experience communicating with planning and zoning agencies or other government stakeholders
  • Background in environmental consulting, real estate, or energy/land use law

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Actual offers are determined by a candidate's skills, experience, and internal pay equity. This position is a full-time salaried W2 base+ bonus role.

  • Medical Insurance
  • 401K with Employer Matching
  • 12 Paid Holidays
  • Discretionary Quarterly Bonus
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Flexible Work-from-home Policy

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
