Salary: $86,000.00 Annually SAGE is the world’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, and other self-identifying members of the community). Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources for LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people and provides cultural competency training for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations. Summary: This position will report to the Director of Philanthropy to manage SAGE’s regional fundraising and engagement events as well as support SAGE’s major gift fundraising operations in various capacities. This role will manage and lead success of our SAGE and Friends event series as well as partner with SAGE’s Board of Directors to ensure that they have the necessary tools for their fundraising efforts. This role will also manage a portfolio of ‘mid-level’ ($1,500 - $4,999) donors. Finally, The Development Engagement Manager will also be responsible for coordinating external communications and portfolio management on behalf of the Chief Development and Communications Officer. Responsibilities: Development Engagement Management Managing the SAGE’s various regional fundraising and engagement events; including leading the fundraising outreach efforts of the host committee members Manage a portfolio of donors between $1,500 - $4,999 including their cultivation, solicitation and stewardship Leading the internal stewardship of SAGE leadership portfolios Conducting donor and prospect research for individual donors Liaising with Director of Philanthropy, Chief Development and Communications Officer, Major Gifts Officer and office of the CEO to support the goals of their fundraising portfolios and funding opportunities In coordination with Director of Philanthropy, providing significant support in drafting campaign and solicitation materials to provide to donors including philanthropic opportunity assets, proposals, and reports associated with significant restricted and general operating gifts. Writing donor profiles/briefings for Development leadership to be prepared for cultivation and solicitation meetings. Provide administrative support to the philanthropy team, including assisting in external meeting debriefs and follow up and including calendaring and preparation for meetings for internal team meetings. Board Fundraising Support Act as project manager for all efforts related to Board Give/Get fundraising, which includes tracking Board members’ personal gifts and their fundraising efforts. This will also include providing tools and assets to share with frontline fundraisers who work directly with Board members. Be responsible for reporting out and analyzing Board Give/Get progress and strategy needs to the Board and Development Committee Play a significant role in drafting Board facing communications to share updates to Development Committee and Board of Directors on fundraising efforts. Need-to-haves: The candidate must have a passion for SAGE’s mission to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning (LGBTQ+) older people. Must have knowledge in LGBTQ+, diversity, equity and inclusion. Must have 3-5 years’ experience playing a project management role to a nonprofit development team and a keen understanding of how special events and major donor level fundraising works. Experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts from major donors and special event sponsors at various levels. Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone and in writing. Capacity to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people, including board and former board members and special event host committee members Comfortable working in a fast-paced, flexible, collegial, goal-oriented and entrepreneurial environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, research, analysis, set goals, communication and manage projects to completion is required. Collaborative spirit in working with the SAGE team Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) along with database entry, reporting, and maintenance. Experience in Salesforce preferred. Nice-to-haves: Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred Role Details: Status: Full-Time, exempt Work location and schedule: ~35 hours per week, M-F 9:30am-5:30pm, remote or hybrid at SAGE’s NYC headquarters, with preference for candidates based in California. Salary: $86,000 Affiliation: This is a union-covered position, and the successful candidate will be required to join the SAGE Workers Union and is covered by the Union’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
