Show job description

The Development Operations Manager is responsible for the accurate entry, tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of all tax credit and charitable donations, while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Arete’s donor database and CRM. This role is central to the Development team’s ability to effectively steward donors, meet reporting requirements, provide leadership and the Board with reliable information, and support fundraising strategy through clean data and timely, meaningful reporting.

In addition to supporting Development, this position provides data and analytics support across Arete’s programs. The Development Operations Manager analyzes scholarship, student, and program data to help measure program effectiveness, demonstrate impact, identify trends, and inform organizational decision-making. By connecting donor, scholarship, and program data, this role helps Arete better understand and communicate both the financial and measurable impact of its work. This is a full-time, remote position but candidates must reside in Georgia or Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continually improve the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the donor database and CRM (HubSpot).
  • Enter and update gift, donor, and pledge records in a timely and accurate manner. Support gift acknowledgment and tax receipt processes, ensuring timely and accurate donor correspondence.
  • Pull data and generate regular and ad hoc reports for the Development team, leadership, and Board on fundraising progress, campaign performance, and donor activity.
  • Prepare and maintain Board Impact Reports, compiling key donor, giving, engagement, and fundraising activity data to provide the Board with a clear view of progress, trends, and opportunities.
  • Support the Development team in tracking, analyzing and building dashboards to track key fundraising measures, including revenue against goal, donor acquisition and retention, pledge fulfillment, board engagement, campaign performance, and other Development KPIs.
  • Assist with segmentation and list generation for mailings, appeals, and donor communications.
  • Support the Development team with general administrative tasks as needed, including meeting briefs and specialty projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor and financial information at all times.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze student, scholarship, school, and program participation data to evaluate program effectiveness and measure outcomes.
  • Evaluate data and provide reports on Arete Rise and Community Engagement student-support initiatives to determine participation, reach, and effectiveness.
  • Additional projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma required and a college degree is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a non-profit organization within a Development, Fundraising, or Finance/Administrative role.
  • Experience with gift processing, donor and data mining, tax receiving and credits.
  • Advance Excel skills required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data cleaning).
  • Strong experience with HubSpot or another CRM system.
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail, particularly with financial and donor data.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive donor and financial information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Deep alignment with Arete Scholars’ mission and a genuine commitment to expanding opportunity for underserved students and families.

Benefits:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Life insurance
  • Generous paid vacation and sick leave
  • Opportunities for professional development and advancement within a growing, mission-driven organization
