Job Overview

About the Role:

The team:

Based in Stockholm, our engineering team is an autonomous unit of developers, DevOps engineers, and QA specialists responsible for designing, building, running, and supporting a core OSTTRA product.

We operate on total ownership: the team that builds the platform also runs and scales it. As Engineering Team Lead, you will drive technical decisions, establish engineering practices, and mentor a high-performing group of technologists. Beyond your immediate team, you will serve as a key technical voice across the broader organization—driving tool and process improvements, shaping internal partnerships, and fostering cross-team collaboration.

This role offers a dual impact track: deepening your hands-on architectural expertise while sharpening your executive leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities and impact:

  • Technical Leadership & Ownership: Take end-to-end accountability for the architecture, security, scalability, and operational health of our core platform.

  • Engineering Excellence: Define and enforce standards for clean code, architecture patterns, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines across front-end and back-end ecosystems.

  • People & Team Development: Coach, mentor, and grow engineers across diverse technical domains, promoting a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and high performance.

  • Cross-Organizational Influence: Partner with product management, enterprise architecture, and internal/external tech vendors to align engineering strategy with business goals. Drive process and tooling improvements across the wider engineering organization.

  • Operational Readiness: Lead by example in production operations, participating in and structuring the team’s on-call rotation to maintain high platform availability.

What’s in it for you:

  • High-Impact Architectural Influence: Directly shape our technical roadmap—driving decisions on microservice architecture, multi-region data locality, continuous deployment pipelines, observability standards, and modern front-end frameworks.

  • Modern Tech Stack & AI Integration: Expand your technical breadth using tools like Kubernetes, Go, Java, Python, and scalable datastores (Relational & NoSQL), while collaborating to establish and refine our AI-driven engineering practices.

  • Leadership & Career Growth: Sharpen your leadership capability through close collaboration with peers across global offices, backed by an autonomous environment where your team is empowered to self-organize and innovate.

  • Global Scope, Autonomous Execution: Build and scale market-leading solutions for global financial markets within a culture that prioritizes psychological safety, continuous learning, and mutual support.

  • Purpose & Social Impact: Engage in meaningful company-wide social and environmental initiatives, contributing to sustainable tech practices and community impact.

  • Develop our AI Engineering practises together with colleagues and the Team to ensure our engineering approaches evolve as needed

What we’re looking for:

Fundamental requirement:

  • Engineering Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams, with a track record of coaching individuals and managing delivery.

  • Technical Depth: 7+ years of full-stack software development experience with deep domain knowledge in backend architecture, frontend frameworks, and distributed systems.

  • Architectural & Business Acumen: Ability to translate complex business and financial requirements into resilient, scalable software architectures.

  • Operational Mindset: Strong sense of ownership regarding the full software lifecycle—design, deployment, observability, and production support.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and articulate complex technical trade-offs.

  • On-Site Collaboration: Ability to work from our Stockholm office at least 3 days per week.

Additional preferred requirements:

  • Project Delivery: Track record of leading complex, multi-stream technical projects from inception to production.

  • Capital Markets Domain: Experience or strong interest in financial markets, post-trade technology, or fintech infrastructure.

The location: Stockholm, Sweden

Right to work requirements:
