DevOps Engineer

The Genius Group (TGG) | Altrincham | £40,000-£45,000 | Full time, permanent

4 days in office, 1 day working from home

About TGG

We're a performance marketing agency based in Altrincham. Our work runs on data, speed and reliable infrastructure, and we're looking for a DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the platforms that keep it all moving.

The role

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building things properly rather than firefighting. You'll own our cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines and monitoring, working closely with our development and data teams to make releases quick, safe and boring in the best possible way.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing and improving our cloud infrastructure (AWS), with an emphasis on cost, performance and security
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines so the team can ship confidently and often
  • Automating infrastructure with tools such as Terraform, Ansible or equivalent
  • Managing containerised workloads (Docker on AWS ECS)
  • Patching and upgrades of the Linux servers, backups with regular restore tests, and moving developer-run deployments into pipelines
  • Setting up and owning monitoring, logging and alerting so issues are spotted before clients are
  • Documenting what you build so the knowledge doesn't sit with one person

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Demonstrable DevOps, SRE or infrastructure engineering experience in a commercial setting
  • 2+ years with AWS in production
  • Confident with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Linux administration, networking and security fundamentals
  • Infrastructure as code with Terraform and Ansible; Bash and Python scripting
  • Comfortable owning your own workload and communicating clearly with non-technical colleagues

Desirable

  • Container orchestration experience, ECS and Docker (Kubernetes a plus)
  • Experience in an agency or other fast-paced, multi-client environment
  • Experience with Azure

What you get

  • Salary of circa £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working: 4 days in our Altrincham office, 1 day from home
