DevOps Engineer | Azure | SaaS Scale-up | Real Hands-On Ownership

📍 Manchester City Centre (Hybrid — 3 days office / 2 days WFH)

💰 £65,000 - £75,000 + Benefits

🛠️ Azure | CI/CD | Terraform / IaC | Docker | DevOps

I’m currently looking for: a genuinely hands-on DevOps Engineer (Azure, CI/CD, Terraform/Bicep, Docker) who wants to be building and shipping, not just overseeing.

Our client is an established SaaS business with a mature, Azure-first platform and a growing engineering function. They’re bringing in a DevOps Engineer to roll their sleeves up alongside the team and help manage and optimise their cloud environment day-to-day — this is a doer’s role, not a strategy seat.

This is a brand new headcount, created through genuine growth and demand, sitting within the IT & Infrastructure function and reporting into the IT & Infrastructure Director.

You’ll get real, varied exposure across the full DevOps lifecycle, directly building and maintaining:

  • CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps tooling, designed and built by you from the ground up
  • Automated build, test and deployment processes that you’ll own end-to-end
  • Code quality, security and testing tooling integrations (e.g. SonarCloud, Snyk, WhiteSource)
  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates — hands-on, not just reviewing someone else’s
  • Applications deployed and supported across Azure App Services, Function Apps and other Azure services
  • Deployment strategies including blue/green, canary and rolling releases
  • Observability and monitoring with Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Log Analytics
  • Security best practices woven into pipelines, source control and cloud infrastructure

You don’t need to be an expert across everything.

What matters most is solid, hands-on commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer — someone who’s genuinely comfortable in the pipelines and the infrastructure, not just directing others through it. Strong CI/CD experience and a solid grounding in Infrastructure as Code and containerisation (Docker) are key.

There’s real ownership and autonomy here, you’ll see your work go live, shape how things get built, and genuinely influence the team’s direction as it grows.

If you’re a DevOps / Platform / Cloud Engineer who wants to stay close to the keyboard and genuinely build things in a stable, growing SaaS business with strong Azure exposure, drop me a message.
