Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We're working with an exciting, growing AI technology business that's looking to hire its first dedicated DevOps Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced DevOps professional who wants to take genuine ownership of cloud infrastructure, shape technical decisions and play a key role in scaling a cutting-edge AI platform.

You'll be joining a small, highly skilled engineering team where you'll have the autonomy to improve infrastructure, drive automation, strengthen security and build reliable, scalable systems.

Unlike traditional DevOps positions, this isn't just about maintaining existing infrastructure. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership, introduce improvements and make a real impact on how the business operates and grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the company's AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security and scalability.
  • Manage and improve infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
  • Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines, supporting efficient and reliable software releases.
  • Manage containerised environments using technologies such as Docker, ECS, EKS and Kubernetes.
  • Automate infrastructure processes, deployments and operational tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to maintain platform performance.
  • Strengthen cloud security through IAM, access management, encryption and network controls.
  • Support engineering teams with secure development and testing environments.
  • Manage production databases, including PostgreSQL, backups and disaster recovery.
  • Contribute to infrastructure compliance and security standards, including ISO 27001.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience managing containerised applications using Docker, ECS, EKS or Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, networking and access controls.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana or similar.
  • Experience supporting PostgreSQL or other production databases.
  • Scripting experience using Bash, Python or TypeScript.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 or other security and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS multi-account environments.
  • Exposure to AI platforms, LLM infrastructure or Amazon Bedrock.
  • Experience working within regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Cloudflare, Drata or Vanta.

Technology Stack

Cloud: AWS, ECS, EKS, Fargate, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS

Infrastructure: Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes

CI/CD: GitHub Actions

Monitoring & Security: CloudWatch, Grafana, GuardDuty, IAM

Development: TypeScript, Python, Bash

Database: PostgreSQL

Why Apply?

  • Up to £90,000 salary with UK remote working.
  • First dedicated DevOps hire – genuine ownership of the infrastructure function.
  • Opportunity to work with emerging AI technologies in a rapidly developing market.
  • Join a small, senior engineering team where your ideas and decisions have a direct impact.
  • Freedom to introduce new technologies, improve processes and shape best practices.
  • Play a key role in scaling a growing technology business.
