# Senior DevOps Engineer

## About the Role

Veeva Systems is seeking experienced **Senior DevOps Engineers** to join its engineering organization and focus on deployment automation, CI/CD scalability, infrastructure, and developer experience. This role is centered on building and improving the tools, frameworks, systems, and processes engineers use to build, integrate, deploy, scale, and manage software.

You will implement DevOps practices across AWS environments, automate the CI/CD lifecycle, build infrastructure at scale, improve observability and high availability, and help reduce manual operational work. The role also includes participation in an **on-call rotation** and mentoring other engineers.

## Key Responsibilities

* Implement DevOps practices including **infrastructure as code, continuous integration, and automated deployment** using AWS services.

* Design and build tools, frameworks, systems, and processes that support software development, integration, deployment, scaling, and management.

* Build, manage, and deploy architectures using **Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes**.

* Automate tasks throughout the CI/CD lifecycle to improve developer experience and reduce manual toil.

* Scale solutions from proof-of-concept implementations to production systems.

* Promote and implement observability best practices, including **monitoring, tracing, alerting, and logging**.

* Support high availability across software engineering environments.

* Participate in an **on-call rotation** to mitigate disruptions affecting systems supported by the DevOps team.

* Mentor engineers and contribute to improving team capabilities.

## Required Qualifications

* **5+ years of experience** in DevOps or SRE roles focused on tooling, automation, and distributed systems development.

* **8+ years of overall software industry experience**.

* Extensive experience architecting, designing, and implementing deployments in **AWS cloud environments**.

* Strong understanding of networking and ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues in AWS environments.

* Experience with continuous integration tools such as **Jenkins, CircleCI, or Codefresh**.

* Experience with configuration management platforms such as **Ansible, Chef, or Salt**.

* Hands-on experience using **Terraform and/or Kubernetes at scale**.

* Strong scripting skills.

* Experience using monitoring frameworks to monitor infrastructure and application health and performance.

* Excellent documentation, communication, presentation, and demonstration skills.

* Proven mentoring experience and the ability to help improve team capabilities.

* Must be located in the **MST or PST time zone**.

* Must have the **unrestricted right to work in the United States**. Veeva will not provide sponsorship at this time.

## Compensation & Benefits

**Base pay:** $125,000–$275,000.

Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, qualifications, and expected contributions. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
