# Senior DevOps Engineer
## About the Role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company that manages all applications and next steps. The partner is seeking a **Senior DevOps Engineer based in Switzerland** to build and operate reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure for a fast-growing **AdTech and e-commerce platform**.
You will take ownership of production infrastructure, containerized applications, deployment workflows, monitoring, and operational reliability. Working primarily with **AWS and Kubernetes**, you will help improve performance, scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency while partnering closely with development teams to strengthen CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
## Key Responsibilities
* Manage, deploy, and maintain **containerized applications using Kubernetes** in production.
* Manage AWS infrastructure across **EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, and OpenSearch**.
* Optimize cloud infrastructure for scalability, reliability, security, availability, and cost efficiency.
* Monitor infrastructure and application performance and maintain effective alerting and observability systems.
* Build and maintain monitoring dashboards using **Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch**.
* Collaborate with development teams to streamline **CI/CD pipelines** and deployment workflows.
* Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, identify root causes, and drive timely incident resolution.
* Improve infrastructure automation, operational processes, and DevOps practices.
* Support performance tuning and cost optimization for EC2 instances and other AWS resources.
* Contribute to **GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code** practices where appropriate.
* Take ownership of infrastructure initiatives and proactively improve production reliability.
## Required Qualifications
* **5+ years of experience** in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles.
* Proven experience supporting **production systems with high availability and reliability requirements**.
* Strong hands-on experience with **Kubernetes** for container orchestration and production deployments.
* Solid knowledge of **AWS**, particularly:
* EC2
* VPC
* S3
* IAM
* Practical experience managing **EC2 instances**, including performance tuning and cloud cost optimization.
* Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as:
* Prometheus
* Grafana
* AWS CloudWatch
* Strong scripting skills with **Python and/or Bash** for automation and operational tasks.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Proactive approach to infrastructure reliability and operational improvement.
* Ability to take ownership of infrastructure initiatives while working independently and collaboratively with development teams.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Familiarity with **GitOps** practices for continuous delivery and infrastructure automation.
* Experience with **Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools**.
* Advanced **Grafana** experience, including custom dashboards and visualizations.
* Experience managing **AWS RDS** instances.
* Familiarity with the **Elastic Stack**, including Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Elastic Cloud.
* Experience with **AWS OpenSearch** for search and analytics use cases.
