As an DFR Application Engineer, you will be a key part of our Commercial Sales Team, helping drive the growth and success of our Drone First Responder (DFR) solutions portfolio in North America. You will operate at the intersection of customer engagement, product innovation, and operational excellence, acting as a trusted technical advisor for customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders. Together with our world-class team, you will help shape the future of public safety and autonomous aerial operations by translating customer needs into scalable, mission-ready solutions. The role is focused on supporting and advancing our DFR ecosystem, particularly around DronePort, Twister, and future autonomous deployment capabilities.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Technical Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary technical expert for our DFR solutions portfolio, supporting customers, channel partners, and internal sales teams throughout the entire customer lifecycle.

  • Customer Engagement: Collaborate closely with public safety agencies, first responders, government organisations, and commercial customers to understand operational requirements and translate them into effective solutions.

  • Solution Consulting: Conduct product demonstrations, technical workshops, proof-of-concept activities, flight testing, and customer evaluations to showcase the value of Quantum Systems technologies.

  • Product & Roadmap Development: Work directly with Product Management and Engineering teams to define product requirements, provide field feedback, and help shape the future roadmap for DronePort, Twister, and associated DFR capabilities.

  • Cross-Functional Product Collaboration: Partner closely with software and hardware development teams, utilising tools such as Confluence, Jira, and related product management platforms to document requirements, communicate customer feedback, and align development priorities.

  • Requirements Management: Capture customer requirements, operational challenges, and mission needs and translate them into structured recommendations for product development.

  • Sales Enablement: Support the Commercial Sales organisation through technical presentations, RFP responses, customer workshops, technical qualification, and proposal development.

  • Channel Partner Support: Train, guide, and enable reseller and integration partners to successfully deploy and operate Quantum Systems solutions.

  • Regulatory & Operational Support: Support customers and internal stakeholders on FAA-related operational concepts, BVLOS operations, public aircraft operations, waivers, and emerging Part 108 requirements.

  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory developments, competitive technologies, and emerging DFR use cases to strengthen our market position.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Training teams to ensure successful deployments and long-term customer satisfaction.

What you bring to the team:

  • Several years of experience in Application Engineering, Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, Customer Success Engineering, or a comparable customer-facing technical role.

  • Experience within UAV/UAS, public safety, defence, robotics, aerospace, telecommunications, emergency response, or related technology industries is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of customer requirements gathering, technical solution development, and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working with cross-functional software and hardware product development teams, including familiarity with collaboration and product management tools such as Confluence, Jira, or similar platforms.

  • Experience supporting technology products throughout their lifecycle, from evaluation and deployment through ongoing operations.

  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to troubleshoot, demonstrate, and present technical products in customer environments.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Willingness to travel extensively across the United States and Canada as required to support customers and business growth.

  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.

  • Knowledge of FAA regulatory frameworks, including current and emerging Part 108 requirements, is strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience obtaining or operating under BVLOS waivers and public aircraft operations, including Certificates of Authorization (COAs), is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with dock-based drone operations, remote flight operations, or Drone First Responder (DFR) programmes is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with autonomous drone deployment systems and remote command-and-control environments is considered a strong advantage.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
