Our Client

Our client is a large Australian Government organisation responsible for delivering critical public services and regulatory functions that support individuals, businesses and the broader community. Operating within a complex legislative environment, the organisation manages high-volume customer interactions and delivers digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving service accessibility, transparency and customer experience. With a strong focus on innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, the organisation offers an inclusive workplace where employees contribute to meaningful outcomes that benefit the public.

Why Contract With Us

At Charter Diligence, we go beyond just placement — we support our contractors with practical benefits that reflect real-life needs. All contractors engaged through us have access to early cash advances on approved timesheets, offering flexibility in cases of unforeseen expenses or cash flow challenges. Unlike traditional labour hire providers, we understand that life doesn’t always align with a pay cycle — and we're here to help when it matters most. Well, ask your mates if they’re already a Charter Diligence Contractor — chances are, they’re already benefiting from the support we provide.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Digital Content Writer to support the delivery of clear, engaging and accessible digital content for a high-profile government program. Working within a collaborative project team, you will develop and maintain customer-focused content that simplifies complex information while ensuring compliance with government writing standards and accessibility requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating technical or legislative information into plain English and is passionate about improving the digital experience for end users. You will work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams to deliver high-quality content across digital platforms within an agile environment.

  • Position: Digital Content Writer
  • Pay Rate: $64.94-$73.76/hour + Super
  • Location: Canberra ACT
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid - Work from Home with one day per week in the office
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 6 Months

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review and publish high-quality digital content across websites and online platforms.
  • Write and edit content using plain language principles to improve readability and user experience.
  • Ensure all content aligns with government style guides, accessibility standards and digital content best practice.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and translate complex material into user-friendly content.
  • Review existing content and recommend improvements to enhance usability, consistency and customer engagement.
  • Support content governance processes, including quality assurance and content lifecycle management.
  • Work within agile project teams to deliver content aligned with project milestones and business priorities.
  • Maintain consistency of tone, messaging and branding across digital communication channels.
  • Conduct content reviews using analytics, user feedback and best practice recommendations.
  • Assist with stakeholder consultation, workshops and content planning activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to digital communication and customer experience.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing digital content within government or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of plain language writing principles and user-centred content design.
  • Experience applying accessibility standards, including WCAG and the Australian Government Style Manual.
  • Excellent written communication, editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS) and digital publishing platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working within agile or project-based delivery environments will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of content strategy, information architecture or UX writing is advantageous.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory National Police Check.
  • Valid working rights in Australia are required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency or an appropriate long-term Australian work visa with full working rights.
  • As a mandatory requirement for this contract role required by our client, applicants are kindly asked to complete a compliance check and upload their work rights verification at www.charterdiligence.com.au/portal. Incomplete submissions may not be considered. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please don’t hesitate to contact our team—we’re here to help.

Application Process

Important: Due to the high volume of applications and the limited submission timeframe, we may not be able to contact all applicants. This is not a reflection of interest, but a result of operational constraints. As part of mandatory government contract requirements, priority will be given to candidates who have completed all necessary compliance checks. For applicants with privacy concerns regarding work rights verification submission, documents may be presented in person at our local offices for sighting.

We encourage candidates who are passionate about making a difference and possess the necessary experience and skills to apply. Please apply to this job post or submit your CV along with a cover letter detailing your qualifications and interest in the role to this job post. For confidential inquiries, contact our recruitment team at [email protected] and (02) 7208 7776 (Sydney), (03) 9001 7776 (Melbourne), (07) 3866 7776 (Brisbane), or (08) 6118 7776 (Perth).
