How can you make a difference?
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide specialized technical support to UNICEF and government counterparts for strengthening safe, inclusive, scalable and evidence-informed digital education interventions at national and state levels. The assignment will support the development and operationalization of digital education roadmaps, digital architecture frameworks for effective blended learning; strengthen digital pedagogy to support remediation and STEM education, AI-enabled teaching and learning approaches; and build capacity, monitoring systems and knowledge products that enable more effective planning, implementation, review and scale-up of digital education initiatives.
UNICEF is actively engaged in supporting the Government of India and state governments to strengthen equitable access, retention and learning outcomes, with a particular focus on children and adolescents from marginalized communities. In view of the rapid expansion of digital technologies in education and the persistent inequities in both learning opportunities and digital infrastructure, UNICEF proposes hiring a Digital Education Consultant to provide specialized technical assistance under Output 301, including support for digital pedagogy, responsible use of AI in education, EdTech architecture, capacity strengthening, monitoring and knowledge generation

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...
Minimum requirements:
- Education: Masters (Advanced university) degree in Education/Educational Technology/Management/Sociology / or another relevant social science field
- Work Experience: At least 10 years of professional experience in education, with substantial experience in designing, implementing and/or scaling digital learning or technology-enabled education programmes, preferably in government or large-scale education systems.
- Knowledge/Expertise/Skills:
- Strong understanding of education systems and digital learning, with demonstrated experience in designing and implementing technology-enabled education programmes
- Expertise in digital learning systems, EdTech architecture and scalable platform ecosystems.
- Knowledge of APIs, interoperability, authentication, data flows, metadata and privacy-by-design.
- Knowledge of LMS, digital content repositories such as DIKSHA, state and platform analytics.
- Expertise in digital pedagogy, instructional design, content development, blended learning and content QA.
- Understanding of AI literacy, adaptive learning, assessment and digital remediation tools.
- Knowledge of responsible AI governance, inclusion and child online safeguards.
- Experience with dashboards, indicators and evidence systems for usage, engagement and equity.
- Strong technical writing, facilitation and presentation skills in English for policy and technical audiences.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English
- Desirables: Experience with UN, government, state institutions or large-scale EdTech programmes is an asset.
