Rocket has thousands of relationships with marketers who already know us — past clients, webinar attendees, podcast listeners, people we've pitched before, contacts who've moved to new companies. Somewhere in that network are our best future clients. This role exists to find them, build the relationship, and be there when the timing is right.
We're a winner of Australia's Best Places to Work, and we're growing our revenue team for the first time in several years.
About the Role
Digital agency relationships rarely change on a predictable schedule. A business might be happy with its agency today and reviewing that relationship in six months. A past contact might move companies and suddenly need a new partner. A major shift in search or platform algorithms might create an urgent problem overnight.
Your job is to stay close enough to Rocket's network that when timing shifts, we're already part of the conversation.
Most days, you'll be talking to marketers — Marketing Managers, Heads of Marketing, CMOs — about how things are going, what's working, what they're wrestling with, and when their current agency relationship might be up for review. You'll work primarily through phone, email and LinkedIn, reaching into segments like past clients, closed-lost opportunities, past champions who've changed companies, and engaged webinar/podcast/content audiences.
You're not expected to close the deal yourself. You're expected to build the relationship, understand the business well enough to spot a genuine opportunity, and introduce the right person at Rocket — a Commercial Director at the right moment. Everything you learn gets logged in HubSpot, so the team can pick up the thread at exactly the right time, even if that's eight months from now.
You'll also triage inbound phone enquiries too — useful exposure to a wider range of businesses, and a good way to build confidence on the phone early on. This is capped so it doesn't compete with your core outreach targets, and it isn't commission-bearing — it's treated purely as a development opportunity, not a core KPI.
Who You'll Work With
You'll sit within Rocket's Revenue Team, working closely with our two Commercial Directors. Particularly in your first few months, this is a hands-on environment — we'll listen to calls together, coach you through real conversations, and get you spending time with our SEO, paid media, social and creative specialists so your subject-matter knowledge keeps building. You'll be in-office 3-4 days a week initially, so you're learning from the conversations happening around you, with more autonomy earned as you demonstrate consistency.
Who We're Looking For
Must-haves
Activity & What Success Looks Like
This is a relationship-first role, but it's also a genuinely active one. As a guide, expect to reach out to around 50 people a day, aiming for roughly 10 useful conversations.
We'll measure success by:
We don't expect every good conversation to turn into an opportunity immediately — a conversation that tells us a great prospect is happy with their agency but reviewing it in November is genuinely valuable, provided it's captured and actioned at the right time.
Compensation
Base salary $90,000–$100,000 + commission, with realistic OTE earnings above $130,000 for strong performance.
Where This Role Could Lead
Do this well, and you'll build genuine relationships with senior marketers at some of Australia's best businesses while learning how a leading independent agency sells and delivers. Over time, there's a real path toward broader business development responsibility, owning and closing your own opportunities, or moving further into a commercial leadership track.
