Purpose

The Digital Media and Creative Services Specialist develops and produces engaging digital content that advances the mission, priorities, and visibility of UT Libraries. This position leads social media management, multimedia storytelling, photography, video production, and creative design services while ensuring a consistent and compelling visual identity across library communications. as part of the senior vice provost's operations team, this position collaborates closely with the communications officer and events and engagement support coordinator.


Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Manage UT Libraries' social media presence across all relevant platforms. Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with strategic priorities, events, campaigns, and initiatives. Create, schedule, publish, and monitor social media content. Engage with audiences through appropriate monitoring, response coordination, and community management practices. Track performance metrics and provide regular reports on audience engagement, reach, and growth.
  • Video Production and Multimedia Storytelling: Plan, produce, edit, and publish video content that promotes library services, resources, collections, events, donor impact, student success stories, and strategic initiatives. Conduct video interviews and develop multimedia stories featuring students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Produce short- and long-form digital content for websites, social media, presentations, and special campaigns. Maintain video production equipment and digital asset libraries.
  • Photography and Digital Asset Management: Capture and edit photographic content for publications, websites, social media, events, and promotional materials. Maintain an organized digital asset file system. Coordinate photo and video releases and permissions as appropriate.
  • Brand Stewardship: Support implementation of the UT Libraries visual identity and brand standards. Ensure consistency across digital and print communications. Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen accessibility and user-centered design practices across communications materials.
  • Team Support: Collaborate with the communications team on integrated communications campaigns and institutional priorities. Develop materials and multimedia content for events and programs.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.
  • Three years of experience creating various forms of media, including video and still photography, video and audio editing, web design, graphic design, or interactive media.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and editing video and photographic content.
  • Experience creating digital and print marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, analytics, and content strategy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a broad community of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of related professional experience.
  • Experience working in higher education, libraries, museums, cultural institutions, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience with video production software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems.
  • Experience analyzing engagement metrics and making data-informed recommendations.

Salary Range

$55,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • Standard office and library conditions.
  • This position is located in Austin, Texas and requires regular onsite work.

Work Shift

  • Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am - 6pm, as arranged with supervisor.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work is required.
  • Regular onsite work is expected but once training and onboarding is complete, there will be an option for a flexible work arrangement allowing for a flexible number of days working remote and in-person each week.
