Department Overview: About the Center for Railroad Photography & Art The Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts and education organization whose mission is to preserve and present significant images of railroading, exploring the relationships between railroad and art culture with American history and life. The Center does not maintain its own museum space, but partners with organizations across the country to present traveling exhibitions, events, publications, and to acquire and maintain significant collections of railroad photography and art. Anticipated Start Date 9/1/26 Anticipated End Date 12/19/26 Anticipated Hours Per Week 8 Schedule: Flexible schedule Part-time, up to 8 hours per week Salary/Wage Range: Hourly $16.00 to $16.00 Number Of Positions 1 Position Summary/Job Duties: The Center for Railroad Photography & Art is piloting a metadata crowdsourcing platform through which subject matter experts can actively assist our archivists in enhancing the metadata for our collections. Under the supervision of the Digital Archives Manager, the Digital Projects Assistant will support administration of the crowdsourcing program, identify gaps in collections data and add missing item records, verify crowdsourced information, and update collections database entries based on community feedback. If time permits, this position may assist with other reformatting or metadata projects from the archive. Specific knowledge of railroading is not required, as long as applicants are curious and willing to learn.
