Job Description

The Digital Solution Consultant is a pre-sales solutions expert in Process Optimization, Model Predictive Control (MPC), and Advanced Process Control (APC). You will support the sales cycle through customer discovery, technical qualification, Benefits Studies, and solution scoping.

An understanding of customers' industries and applications is essential to this role. Working with Sales and cross-functional stakeholders, the Digital Solution Consultant translates process findings into credible value propositions and helps customers make informed investment decisions. Reporting to the MPC Sales Manager, this role will be remote with travel to customer sites required.

Your Responsibilities:

Customer discovery and qualification

  • Own customer engagement, technical discovery, opportunity qualification, and the coordination pre-sales activities supporting MPC/APC sales opportunities.
  • Lead technical qualification of opportunities by evaluating application fit, current control capabilities, and the availability of process information needed for assessment.
  • Support Sales in commercially qualifying opportunities using MEDPICC, BANT, or another appropriate qualification framework.
  • Work with Sales and customer stakeholders to clarify the business problem, operating objectives, decision criteria, and requirements for evaluating Rockwell's MPC solutions.

Process and value assessment

  • Lead Benefits Studies to quantify potential improvements and develop business cases grounded in customer operational drivers. Conduct process discussions and customer interviews to understand current operations, process challenges, bottlenecks, constraints, and operational KPIs.
  • Review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and operating procedures to assess MPC/APC suitability.
  • Lead analysis of historical process and quality data to establish baseline performance and identify optimization potential.
  • Document the assumptions and data limitations underlying benefit estimates.

Solution scoping and proposal development

  • Translate assessment findings into a recommended solution scope, engineering estimates and bill of materials (BOM), documenting application requirements, assumptions, boundaries, and exclusions for the proposal.
  • Own and oversee the end-to-end proposal workflow, ensuring you develop, review, approve, and deliver proposals in accordance with organizational standards and customer requirements. Collaborate with delivery to validate feasibility, scope, and timeline.
  • Provide a documented handoff of the agreed scope and assessment findings; functional design, implementation and engineering standards remain with delivery.

Technical sales support and order conversion

  • Support direct and indirect sales with technical presentations that build awareness of Rockwell's MPC solutions, differentiate the proposed application, and inform proposal language.
  • Present Benefits Studies and business value to operational and business audiences, addressing customer questions, technical objections, and scope clarifications.
  • Work with Sales Management to prioritize strategic pursuits and coordinate cross-functional pre-sales activities that advance customer decisions and support quarterly and annual order objectives.

Application expertise

  • Maintain practical knowledge of MPC/APC applications, manufacturing processes, industry practices and evolving customer requirements.
  • Develop and share sales enablement and training materials, including presentations, application data sheets, ROI calculators, case studies and application papers.
  • Contribute application insights to go-to-market discussions and provide Product Management with customer requirements and deployment-related feedback.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The ability to travel 40% of the time.

  • Industry experience in CPG, Mining & Cement, Chemicals, or Oil & Gas also considered.
  • Knowledge of MPC/APC, process optimization, PFDs, P&IDs, and control strategies.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional pre-sales pursuits in global organizations.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics, including AI, machine learning, or neural networks.
