Position Summary
Our Direct Tax internship experience is a 10.5 week full-time opportunity that starts on May 24th, 2027, and concludes on August 4th, 2027.


This is a hybrid position with 3 days (generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in office with the other 2 days each week working remotely from home, office, or another location of your choice.


Job Location: Cumberland, RI


The hourly rate is $26/hr with 40 hours/ week, no work on July 4th (company holiday), and two days of paid leave. Please disregard the range listed.


Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.


About this Business Area:

CVS Health is seeking a motivated intern to support the indirect tax team, with a focus on income tax compliance in a large corporate environment.


In this role, you will support the team in meeting income tax compliance obligations, researching tax questions, and helping improve processes. This internship will provide exposure to federal and state income tax compliance, audit support, tax technology, and cross-functional collaboration. Success in this role will come from curiosity, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and strong follow-through.


Responsibilities

  • U.S. Federal tax compliance and reporting
  • State Income, and Sales and Use tax compliance
  • Tax Research

The Tax internship will also provide:

  • Opportunity to learn about the CVS Health organization and impart valuable skills within the working environment of a Fortune 10 company
  • Feedback and career development discussions with department leadership Help monitor business activities and maintain data used to support filing responsibilities
  • Partner with team members on process improvement and automation-related projects
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have demonstrated leadership experience. Examples include: active roles in student or social organization activities, sports, or school or work-related projects
  • Have experience with data analysis and visualization tools, for example Microsoft Excel to maintain spreadsheets and perform moderately complex functions
  • Show strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Have an interest in obtaining full-time tax position within CVS Health upon graduation
  • Coursework in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related business field
  • Strong interest in indirect tax, especially sales and use tax compliance
  • Solid attention to detail and ability to work accurately with large data sets
  • Proficiency in Excel, including sorting, filtering, formulas, and basic data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a corporate team environment


Education

  • Anticipated completion of bachelor’s degree program by full-time start date (December 2027 through August 2028) or equivalent experience. Master’s students completing 3+1 or 4+1 programs (a Master’s/MBA program immediately following your bachelor’s degree) may be considered
  • Have a major, minor, concentration in Finance or Accounting
