Intuitive Machines is currently seeking a Director of Commercial Space Business Development to join our Palo Alto, CA based team. In this role, which also may be performed remotely, you will play a critical role in driving our go to market efforts in Commercial Space and increase our market share.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and manage activities surrounding the identification, pursuit, and capture of new commercial business opportunities that leverage Intuitive Machines core competencies and discriminated capabilities.
  • Provide portfolio oversight on all aspects of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) that includes steps to develop and execute growth strategies, identify new business opportunities, establish pursuit priorities, gain and grow customer intimacy, and develop successful capture plans.
  • Lead the coordination of assigned Mission Architects, Chief Engineers, technical leads, and Program Managers in the development of tailored solutions in response to discerned customer needs, formulation/execution of capture plans and strategies, pursuit and proposal activities, and customer relationship management.
  • Drive the preparation, review, and delivery of high-quality, responsive solutions to both captive and competitively pursued opportunities, leading internal teams to prepare proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates, and responses to requests for information that are informed by strong customer engagement and competitive intelligence.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with current and new customers. Gain recognition as a trusted and respected representative of Intuitive Machines, and influence program awards consistent with customer requirements and Intuitive Machines objectives.
  • Develop and track a pipeline of opportunities that meets the quarterly and annual operating plan.
  • Lead the Space Capture team in securing approval from executive leadership for new commercial space opportunities through business case generation and margin analysis.
  • Produce executive summaries and analyses regularly to provide the needed insights for key business decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analyses to evaluate potential opportunities and provide bid / no-bid recommendations consistent with the Space Capture vision and strategy.
  • Proactively identify performance indicators and key areas for analysis to inform constant improvement in the capture process, training gaps, market trends, etc.
  • Serve as consultant for future systems designs to enable improved decision making to deliver value-added capability to Intuitive Machines products for our customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Science or related discipline. A master's degree may count as two years of experience.
  • 15 years of experience, including 10 years of experience in business development, senior engineering leadership, or senior organizational leadership in the Commercial Space Market
  • Approximately 20% travel, both domestic and international

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in international business development desired
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to support Civil Space Business Development (NASA/NOAA) or National Security Space (DoD/W or IC with TS/SCI clearance)
  • Hands-on experience with the system engineering, design, development, test, and/or mission operations of a satellite flight program.

● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $178,000.00 - $297,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $178,000.00 - $297,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $178,000.00 - $297,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $196,000.00 - $326,000.00 annually.● The base pay for this position within California is: $205,000.00 - $341,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
