Job Description
Overview:
The Director of Business Development will lead the business development, commercialisation and growth of Visa Direct solutions in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, with a focus on expanding cross-border and domestic money movement flows and leveraging Currency cloud capabilities across collections, FX, payouts and virtual accounts. This role is responsible for establishing and growing the distribution strategy for Visa Direct money movement platforms and Currencycloud capabilities across multiple client segments in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean.
The individual will lead specialist sales for Visa Direct solutions, working closely with Visa Account Executives and cross-functional teams to prioritise the Visa Direct and Currencycloud suite of products and capabilities for relevant client needs and priority payment flows. The role will focus on building a strong go-to-market strategy, developing a qualified sales pipeline, driving new deal acquisition, supporting market-expanding partnerships, and delivering incremental revenue growth. The individual will represent Visa Direct and Currencycloud in market, engage senior stakeholders, gather market feedback, and help position Visa as a trusted partner in the future of domestic and cross-border money movement across Mauritius and the Indian Ocean.
This individual will report into Visa Direct leadership within the CEMEA Money Movement organisation and will be accountable for business development and sales in Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, including the adoption of relevant Currencycloud capabilities to support commercial payment flows, collections and payout mandates, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualification:
10+ years of experience in financial services, payments, fintech, banking, business development, sales or a related commercial role.
Strong sales and business development track record, with experience building pipeline, managing complex deals and delivering revenue growth.
Strong background in payments, transaction banking, cash management, global money movement, remittance, SaaS or platform-led financial services.
Knowledge of cross-border payments, domestic money movement, fintech ecosystems, B2B payment trends and emerging payment use cases.
Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
Proven ability to engage senior decision-makers and lead client discussions with confidence and credibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in B2B payments, money movement, remittances, digital wallets, account-to-account payments, card payments, FX, collections, payouts or virtual account solutions, subject to applicable licensing and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to develop go-to-market plans, commercial narratives, sales enablement materials and client value propositions.
Strong understanding of regulated financial services environments, including risk, compliance, licensing and operational considerations.
Understanding of fintech, banking landscapes and payment systems, including regulatory dynamics and digital innovation trends.
Excellent business acumen, including revenue growth, pricing, ROI, commercial economics and market opportunity assessment.
Ability to work in a complex, matrixed and fast-paced environment.
Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline and commercial judgement.
Collaborative, flexible and able to influence across teams without direct authority.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including executive-level presentations; additional regional languages are a plus.
Experience mentoring or leading teams, with a commitment to talent development and collaborative execution.
Knowledge of product management, data-driven insights and finance.
Master’s degree preferred.
